Hi, for DSA sports, child usually is AL10. Wants to apply to IP under 2 schools with cutoff for IP is 8 points, and O level track cutoff is 9M/10.

1)During DSA application, shld we put \"No Preference\", will \"No Preference\" increase the chance of getting an offer?

2)Or if put under \"IP Track\", will they just reject if they think he is not suited for IP and won't offer the O level track?

4)Should there be an offer for O level track, after PSLE results if child gets 8/7/6/5 are we able to appeal to go to IP Track?
Put no preference & decide on whether to accept the offer after he sat for PSLE paper. By then, he will have an inkling of his PSLE performance.

Heard of an IP sch upgraded an offer to my friend's kid who actually only applied for its Olevels track to free up time to pursuit his DSA commitment externally. The sch tried to persuade him to take IP track during interview.

Ultimately, he decided on accepting CO from a non IP sch.

          Hello everyone

Is there any parent/kids who can share DSA leadership experience with IP school?

We would like to know more what we need to prepare interview, personal statement and so on.

Also want to know chance of getting DSA leadership according to previous experience if the kid is holding Head prefect/Vice Head prefect position with AL6/7 but not Singaporean.

I don't have experience on leadership but just based on what i heard from friends who applied via leadership. I know of kids who are head prefects and exco members, scoring AL5-6 but they were not selected for interview for the top tier IP schools (R and H schools).. so i think the competition is very stiff, since there's so many potential candidates. You will need to showcase a lot more for leadership, on top of their usual leadership duties. However one of them managed to get a CO another dual track IP boys school. So it really depends on which schools are you are targeting and the profiles of the candidates that applied ie the competition. You can browse through past DSA threads and read up on those successful COs for leadership to get an idea, their profiles were VERY impressive.
            Good luck!

Here’s what I’ve gathered from a number of people ic of DSA this year. In no particular order:

              - Nationality is not an issue
              - Head / Vice Head Prefect / President / King of the World is anything but a title. What he / she does and able to showcase what he / she does is more important
              - Quite a few IP schools say they are not that concerned about the simulated AL score from P5 or P6. Minimum is must meet G3 standard
              - However, they do look at the student / results holistically and more importantly, they are looking for self directed and self driven students for the IP
              - Thus, don’t be surprised if a student with AL16 gets a CO for IP while a student with AL6 gets rejected

Hi, the report book is shared for the DSA application, so for their activities in the school for example choir performance in the school concert, will be be shared with the DSA committee online or do we have to write down as their 10 achievements in the application.

Also we are applying for 2 domain ie science & choir , all out of school activities will be group under the 10 achievements? if they have dance training, which is not related , should we write it down as well?

                      Thanks!

I suggest to check with the school. Some schools submit the bare minimum stated by MOE like school results and school/MOE edusave awards and any medals only. If just participate without medals or enrichment like E2K or school wide activity, not included (disclaimer-these were also not in report book). So these, you will need to add in yourself. Some schools are more “onz” and submit more.
