For parents who had experience with sports trial (eg badminton), can share how would the selection be done? Roughly how many students playing in total and the chances to be shortlisted is usually low?

        This is what I heard:
In a top IP boys Sch, selection is via elimination by pitting players against each other in a singles match (you can go figure out how they select the players to pit against) . The last few standing probably are the ones that moved on to the interview round.

I feel this DSA exercise also provided us with a glimpse of how the particular CCA operates (those tied to a cca eg sports or performing arts) In my experience, the sch teacher really went beyond the usual electronic email and personally sent a few emails to all applicants to clearly state the follow-up timelines etc. The personal touch leaves a good impression even if ultimately not selected haha.

Depends from Sch to Sch. For some, it was notified via email. For the rest, cca tchr called personally notifying of trial, interview and outcome.

Electronic email already there. What I meant is the extra personal touch by the CCA teacher beyond the SOP by the school is what makes it more impressive. Differs of cos from CCA to CCA.

Yes this is also what I heard based on DS’s former classmate experience. And in the end they only selected 2-3 to offer. This was for badminton.

I see. Thanks parents for sharing. I think 50 for trial not so scary. I heard some schools got a few hundreds? Not sure how true is that.
