Seems that most are considering only London? There are many other universities in the UK, and some will have better housing policies. And cost of living is lower elsewhere. The most expensive places to send your kids in the UK are London and Oxbridge.

Anybody knows how fees in UK for international students have increased over like say 15 years..as compared to the our exchange rate? If not much increase then it is more worth it to go now than 10/20 yrs time..
As far as university education goes, we are all price takers. Hence, we got to take the prices as is, at the time our kids are due for university, and make the decision on what we can afford and how much we are willing to support (if any). This applies to any country they are studying in, whether Singapore, or overseas. It doesn't matter what the university costs were 15 years ago or 15 years later. -

yes but in the UK, rice is sold usually in 1kg packs. Can manage lol!
It's the liquids (milk) and pasta sauce bottles that were heavy for me.
Fortunately for me, I love Lee Kum Kee, so I bought a lot of jars in various flavours at one go from Chinatown. They lasted me for many months, but took up a lot of space in the communal fridge in my hall pantry. But nothing beats my Thai neighbour who had even MORE Thai sauces to hoard the cabinets and fridge! -
I guess our NUS and NTU are not too bad either...NUS is No. 8 now on QS league table and No. 19 on THE table.
With both NUS and NTU in the top 50 of both QS and THE, your child can easily get a visa to work in the UK!

Only if there's enough fridge space! When I was student (40 yrs ago), 10 girls shared a bar fridge! Of course, we had college meals available, so we weren't expected to need a lot of stored food. It made cooking in bulk impossible.
Plus meal deals and ready curry or pasta meals, pret sandwiches. And of course occasional a week treat eating out with friends. -

Adding a fridge/freezer is possible if you rent, I guess. My daughter wasn't allowed to have any large electrical items in hostel. She was fortunate to share a tiny kitchen and fridge with just 1 other girl. We rented when my husband was a graduate student, and we did buy an additional small freezer.

Stronger SGD is beneficial to us.. but will the benefits of working in UK diminishes since now is 1.7x.. but then the culture /experience are very different..a good experience to go for..
For us, as much as possible we would like to settle locally..unless not much choice. But the experience of overseas edu is exciting..maybe later more grown up..master or something like that?? Let's see la..meanwhile it is nice to hear and immerse in the experiences of you all. -
