      Hi chenlaoshi.

Can I know how strict is the machine marking of circled answers on paper 2 during national exams? Really cannot have a single bit of white or cannot have any shading outside of the circle? It’s good lesson for my child, as 7 out of the 8 MCQ in paper 2 was marked wrong for MYE even though answer is correct.

        Hi newbieks,

The settings (sensitivity & grading) of the machine can be adjusted.

For schools, it's usually less strict (i.e. for the cases you mentioned, as long as they are minor cases, error messages will be shown to ask for human intervention).

For national exams, such situation will be auto graded as wrong answer - since it is very inefficient to attend to each and every error message that pops out.

Which explains why such reminders are printed on the OAS:

I guess your child's school went with the stricter setting - as you mentioned it's better to be reminded now then lose marks when it matters most.

Tks for sharing! The school script was hand marked. Nonetheless I think it is good reminder not just for chinese paper but perhaps for all other MCQ questions.

              陈老师 您好!

              想问一下,议论文里,写分论点时,如果小朋友没办法记得任何可以用的论据 (俗语、名言、例子),怎么办?可以怎样写论据呢?谢谢!

                议论文的论据分成以下几种:

                https://i.imgur.com/U9n7lbA.jpg\">

                - state examples
                - use quotes
                - compare and contrast
                - use analogy (simile/metaphor)
                - use statistics

I see! Thank you! Is it possible for the child to use own life example? Thanks!

Yes, but it's not sufficient. In order to be convincing, need to incorporate the other types of proof if the example given is just a personal (which can simply be made up) one instead of well-known/authentic one (e.g. regarding not giving up - using Thomas Edison as example).

Haha thank you! In case the kids can’t think of any good solid evidence…
