My personal opinion: they are unlike mainstream secondary schools, those usually take in only the kids who can win medals for them at NSG ie local events. Whereas isnt SSP’s purpose to groom for longer term & further shores, eg regional games, commonwealth games, asian games, Olympics?

Given that the earliest a kid can start shooting lessons is P5 (P4 if airgun) it’s a bit narrow minded to limit their intake to eg the already top top rather than considering the ones with some budding potential that can be trained further.[/quote]
Yes you are right. NSG is not their goal, must aspire to take part and win beyond the shore.
      (Interview question 😄)

I can’t say for shooting but they do look at raw talent potentials for other sports. Not necessarily top medalists.

Each sport may require different rate of developing and skills at different age so only they are the experts and know.

I searched for information on SSP before and couldn’t get much info, most of them are just hear say of parents whose kids may not even been in SSP. After a few encounters, I do feel more positive about them than before.

Indeed for shooting, because everyone starts at P5 or so for dsa, almost everyone is on par and not really ahead of another very much unlike other sports where headstart could begin as early as 3 y/o. Also based on my past experience and peer knowledge about the shooting intake, they do take it raw talent who hv nvr taken part in any comps before. The outcome after entering SSP is that these gems do improve tremendously and surpassing those who went to RI or HCI or XMSS instead.

Our discussions here is more on the waiting list of SSP.

Just imagine if top schools like RI / ACSI / HCI have no waiting lists.

It is like telling those eager parents, "Dear sir / madam, even if there were students who void their DSA confirmation offers due to certain reasons, we will not be considering your child, as we would rather leave those places vacant."

Can you imagine how those parents will react?

I think they will be cursing and complaining to Chan Chun Sing already, ha ha…

Hi Jolene, thanks for replying to my question.

Hi keas, I have sent u a pm. Thanks!
My reply to you is still in my outbox. Sorry not sure how to use the function. Some can be sent, some stay in my outbox forever. 😂

Anyway I understand that the result of interview differs for each child. Some are more or less confirmed before interview, some are rejected after interview.
If confirmed, CO would be sent quite fast within the next 2 days. Again, it could vary.

                      Hi,
So if 5 students void their DSA confirmation offers by NYGH for example, the school would rather leave the 5 places vacant?
Meaning to say that the following year for NYGH, there will be 5 students lesser?

DSA slots are shared across domains, not reserved for any sports or specific domain.
