        Hi there,

I m new to all this as it’s my first time experiencing the DSA. Just want to check when submitting the choices, do we get to submit more than one school? For example, if she gets a WL for school A but CO for school B but we would still like to try her for school A. If she is not accepted into school A, can she still enter school B since it’s a CO? Would the CO still stand or she would missed the chance?

academic domain. If I remember correctly, my child finished his interview sometime in late June or early July. after that, it's a long, agonising wait. And which domain did your child apply for?

SCGS, SNGS, NYGH sounds like artistic gym domain. Have friends waiting for these 3 too. If it's really this domain, SNGS has given some verbal offers.

Congratulations to your girl on CO from MGS.
Which are the other two IP schools? Other than RGS, are there any other IP girl schools that have released results? My close friend is waiting anxiously from SCGS, SNGS and NYGH. but so far , haven't heard from them.

Once a CO is issued, it will stand until you reject it.

So, if school A is her first choice, she should put it as no. 1 even if it's a WL offer.
If the WL doesn't convert, the CO for school B is still hers.

Actually she has not received the IP offer from the other 2 schools yet but she said she didn't do that well in one of MGS' task, test and essay and was quite confident of the task, test and interview for the other 2 schools, so we are hoping for at least 1 more CO/WL, hence asked in advance. MGS is the only school that allow 'No Pref' submission for DSA academic so the other 2 schools CO/WL/rejections will definitely be for IP. I guess that's also prob why she was given SEC as she already said she didn't think she did well in MGS and was more confident for the other 2 schools.

I guess even if she doesn't get another CO/WL, we will still be in a dilemma whether to accept MGS SEC offer or try to get into IB/IP with PSLE results as she might meet the cut-off for IP schools.

Also, am wondering since the cut-off for MGS SEC (O) is AL4-8, there are people who got AL4-6 in total for PSLE but still chose SEC over IB/IP? Is it because these group of students are planning to go overseas right after SEC, hence did not chose IB/IP even though they obtained good PSLE results? Or are these people with AL4-AL6 doing SEC programme those that accepted DSA SEC?

In that case, was also wondering whether its best to totally keep the options open with SEC cuz at the moment also dunno whether she will be matured enough to go overseas at 17 (which can be better as can take pre-u foundation) or better to just keep her in Spore with Alevel/IB locally for 6 years.

When I ask her which route she prefer, she said don't ask me now, I need to concentrate on studying for PSLE which is 1 month away and goes back to doing her schoolwork.
                From School Finder
                MGS IB track: 4-6
                MGS SEC (O level track): 6-8 (non-affiliates); 7-17 (affiliates)

Students who entered via DSA are not included in the data set above. It only reports the PSLE score of students entering via Sec 1 posting exercise.

Even if she goes IB track (or any other IP school), via S1 posting or via DSA, if she wants to go overseas (eg for foundation studies etc) she can just leave. All she needs to do is secure the overseas seat first, whether via entrance test or discretionary admission (if they have such thing). So the “keeping options open by choosing O level track” argument doesnt really hold water.

#1 Actually, I have no idea what's the statistic for #1. How likely it is to get into IB (ACSI / SJI) via the SEC (O) track? How many slots are there available for SEC students since they already have their own IB 6 years track students? Where can we find the statistics?

Also, prob need to call up the local international schools to find out what's their criteria for joining IB in Year 11.

Lastly, would a SEC (O) track students have less advantage academically compared to those that join IB since year 1 in MGS/ASC/SJI since they would not have been exposed to the IB curriculum since Sec 1? Would they struggle in IB in year 5/6 compared to those who join in year 1?

#2 - all same domain (academic)
For ACS International and SJI International, do take note the school fees will be more than $35K per year.

OIC, am not aware it doesn't include data set for for students entering via DSA and my bad for stating SEC cut off is 4-8 when it's 6-8.

If someone gets AL6 from non-affiliated primary school, what's the consideration for choosing SEC over IP at other schools like NYGH/SCGS/NJC/SNGS? Can also go into MGS IB/RGS IP assuming don't get balloted out at 6. With AL6, definitely meet the cut off point for many IP schools so I thought the consideration for picking SEC is to keep the option open after end of 4 years as there are many more post-sec options like taking IB/A levels locally/overseas or taking pre-u overseas when the child is more matured and more likely to know what she/he wants at 16 vs now at 12 years old to decide on the particular JC now by joining IP/IB.

I saw some overseas pre-uni foundation states entry requirement with O level results, hence I thought at least require O level results to apply so by going IB/IP route might close off this option. I supposed maybe some pre-u only require their own admission test. Can share which pre-u for me to do more research? Thanks.
