Haha. I guess it could be a 1.5L container 60% full

Using “eye power”, not many will notice NTUC FairPrice’s carton is 950ml while the cartons of Greenfields, Cowhead and Paul’s, are 1L each.

There is a granola bar we buy that comes in a rectangular box. Fits six individual packages nicely. Now, the box comes with five packages

We found that out a few months ago! That's our favourite bar too (crispy & dairy-free), and we thought it was really sneaky of them - kept the price the same, but reduced by 17%! We still buy them though as I can't find anything similar.

Even worse, the variety pack, which used to be 2-2-2, is now 2-1-2, and the one they reduced from 2 to 1 is my favourite  But since the price didn't change, does that mean there is no inflation

US supermarkets had unit pricing when i was there 30+ years ago. most fondly remember their produce sales.
I don't know why they keep dragging their feet on providing unit pricing - just like how they dragged their feet on plastic bag charges! I was so happy when I realised I had a calculator on my phone (slow learner about gadgets!) so I could work out the comparisons for myself. When I lived in the UK >20 years ago, the supermarket already had unit pricing on all shelf labels. -

No. We should thank them because that means they are trying to reduce our weight :rotflmao:

Seriously speaking, price increases are for those people who can bear it. If enough people sound and show their displeasure, companies have no choice but to reduce or maintain their original prices. My favourite cereal, for example, ballooned from $5.90 to $7.90 in just a couple of days. I simply refused to buy it anymore, and from the \"always full\" status of its stock (I check it every couple of days out of curiosity), it seems many others are doing so too. Recently, the price dropped to $6.20 and I bought a couple but it went back up to $7.90 again. Sigh. Next time, I'll stock up

Yes, i was wondering why FP fresh milk were still full on shelf, before lee_yl pointed out abt the amount. Checked last night, Greenfield is low stock now. Haha…

I also switch brands if I feel the price increase is too much, and there is an alternative. For those bars, I haven't found an alternative, and similar bars are actually more expensive anyway.

Haha, it’s akin to opening up a big bag of potato chips but inside filled with 80% air.

Magnolia fresh milk used to be 1L per carton too? It’s now reduced to 946ml per carton. I understand 无商不奸,but NTUC FairPrice is a cooperative with lower tax rate as compared to CS, SS etc. Still can’t believe I bought threadfin at $66/kg while the same thing in CS Fresh only costs $50/kg. NTUC FairPrice can do better.
There is this omega-3 mini capsules I usually buy, the bottle is still the same but the company has reduced the quantity from 400 to 360 capsules. Subtle form of inflation, you pay the same but get fewer
