By when will we know the vacancy allocation for 2025’s intake?
2025? That's 2 years from now 😂 . Unless, of course, you are referring to the registration next year in 2024.

Anyway, MOE usually keeps this number close to its heart. They only release it usually a month before the start of the registration, usually in early June.

After a long hiatus, I am back to visit this thread. I have replanned and am ready to relocate in early 2024 for phase 2A to School X (shy) . I only pray no balloting for 1km in that phase out of ordinary (past records is ballot more than 2km /no ballot) . Fingers crossed. Not that i am super kiasu but i dont want to be balloting in phase 2C in my area. I also have mixed feelings to move, but seems like the best option.

Moving for a school which you have a Phase 2A chance makes perfect sense, but moving for a school for which you only have a Phase 2C chance is questionable and not advisable.

If you move now, it'd probably be a rental. Good luck.

Yes, u are absolutely right. It is a rental. I'm also worried abt the highly competitiveness of the students in that school as I have taken a relaxed approach so far. Need to buck up in K2 next year. Getting nervous if my kids can handle it.

There is always the big question of whether our kids can handle the schools which we fight so hard to get them into.
No, we will never know, until the kids graduate from the school.

But I think you should talk to them and bring them to the school to check out the environment, students and teachers. Make them excited for the school. All schools in Singapore cater to the minimum requirements, and those are pretty high. It's up to us, as parents, to make them special for our children.

In worst case scenario, if 2A you got balloted and failed. What's your 2B or 2C backup plan? This is important to think first rather than panic at the last minute.

To summarize, you will try Phase 2A for School X. If enter a ballot and unsuccessful, you will try Phase 2C for the same School X? How is the application rate for 2C?

As you didn't share the name of School X. A generic advice is you check for any BTOs or new Condo launches that's TOPing this year or next year. These new home owners will also naturally try for School X during Phase 2C if they have no alumni, grassroots or staff links.

I think it is very common that most parents who have already invested time and energy in researching the school will just keep trying to get in from Phase 2A to 2C. If you still fail to get in during Phase 2C, it might be a good idea to just go for your secondary backup school which has no bidding in Phase 2CS, while registering to get into the backup waiting list for your desired school asap. I had a friend who did that, and actually bought the books for the backup school, when she received a call that says her waiting list has been approved! Needless to say, she happily gave away the books she bought for the backup school.
