I won’t want to be involved in decision-making for grandchildren. It’s their parents’ duties & responsibilities which I’ll not overstep. The next generation hv their own new challenges & their times will be different. Will involve only when asked for my 2cents’ opinion.
Congratulations to LNW's ds :rahrah:
Seems that more and more ksp's children are moving to next stage liao. So next time instead of parents checking on P1 admission, it is the grandparents

Thank you Estéema. Glad to have a daughter in law to accompany and take care of DS. Actually last time we were worried DS might prefer to stay Single as he had suffered a lot from the break up of his parents and might not have trust on marriage however, seeing his father and step mother could stay together happily, he choose to set up his own family.
:congrats:
Sounds like exciting happenings in your household on the way. -

Both offers sound attractive but the exposure and skills learnt will be very different. The healthcare compliance / HR role will likely train up meticulousness and a rules-based worldview whereas the financial institute could raise financial awareness and a pathway to fintech.
my ds has two offers for internship , one is healthcare compliance/HR another is big financial institue.
he will start in early Nov, after his national duty
i dunno why he got offers, or is it due to his future uni course enrolment :scratchhead: envy coz i also want
to find this type of low commitment job with reasonable salary - for staying active n make new work frens

Seeking advice. I have an acquaintance who recently told me that she found her ideal BF. I was happy for her until she shared that her BF is returning from overseas to spend Xmas with her. She has not met him in real life but she is sure he’s not a scammer because they use FaceTime to chat. She has seen his real face.
I read from ST articles about the modus operandi of love scammers and my acquaintance’s situation sounds suspiciously like the profile of a love scam. But newspapers never teach us how to help those whom we think has fallen in love with such scammers!! :imdrowning: :?:
When I said too much, can tell from her facial expression, she is not happy. For someone (who think they are) in love, they don’t seem to want to listen. Very sad to witness something like this happening, like a car accident happening in slow motion, but I am hapless to prevent an impending disaster.
Dear friends,
Do you all remember the love scam post I posted here some weeks back?
I was shocked when I read the ST article yesterday about how a retiree who lost over $1mil to a Facebook friend because the tactic described in ST is very similar to what my friend went through recently.
The fake Facebook BF told my friend that he needed to procure some specialized materials for his project from a Malaysian supplier but he couldn’t speak Mandarin and sought my friend’s assistance. Shortly after, a Malaysian registered number called my friend to try to confirm the order, and to secure the order, my friend had to place a deposit of US$250K.
Luckily, my friend did not help as we had told her umpteen times that the fake BF would ask for money in one way or another. The fake BF got mad when informed by my friend that she was not able to help and even scolded my friend!!!
My friend FaceTime him before and described the fake BF as a very handsome Chinese-looking Singaporean but the weird thing is, when she sent me a short audio clip of their conversation, this man spoke with an Indian accent.
Although I felt relieved that my friend did not fall prey to the fake Facebook BF scam, I felt sad that I couldn’t help the retiree (in the ST article) from being scammed of her $1mil savings. Do repeatedly remind our relatives/friends to be wary of these online friends. -
These kind of scamming is really a very bad thing to do. Hope the people can go beyond think a little further for the victims… How hopeless and desperate these ppl will become when all their savings are gone and they are unable to work.

Maybe those BF are also the victims of scamming as those in the movie \"No More Bets\" (孤注一掷), they are being trafficked to Myanmar and forced to defraud online.
