I do like the lake as well and yes have seen fishes (koi?!) and turtles. The whole Sch envnmt is just so breezy (layout) and spacious/bright. I do like the Sch though the walk from mrt haha a bit daunting and I got lost before amidst the landed there and walk all the way to the performance centre nearby.
Yes it’s quite a walk from MRT station to the school. teenagers are energetic. They wouldn’t complain 😄 . I quite like the river scene along the way to school. My children used to tell me all the fun stories walking along the river. What they see and drop into the river. When my children just started studying there, I wanted to immerse myself in the environment, in my own way.( knowing their school environment better I find it helpful when starting conversations with them) many good food at the nearby old airport hawker centre. I also had interesting experience at the art gallery by the lake. I read that public can drop in to view the painting in the gallery. Those paintings were donated by CCHM alumnus , recipient of Cultural Medallion award 林子平. The admin staff unlock the gallery for me and told me to inform them when I am done, for them to lock it up. I don’t know much about art. I just wanted to experience what my children get to see in this school. I spent half an hour or so in the gallery. When I went to the admin office after I am done, I was ask “which paintings you want to buy?” 😓

I have also visited CCHY once or twice. Not bad for a school compound that’s limited by space. They also try to infuse the same feel by having a mini lake and cultural layout as well.

It’s not that far a walk from Dakota mrt to the school. But i guess the large school compound itself is a further walk within. Was there earlier this year to recce the Grand Dunman condo launch site. Will the upcoming piling & construction noise be a deterrent to S1 posting applicants?

Kong Hwa School is also relatively nearby. I wonder how many P6 kids from there (presumably still living within 1km) will go to CCHM? Or take CCL to another secondary school?

My children were from CCHM. I suggest letting your child take public transport to school. My children took MRT from Punggol to school. Your child could take MRT to Paya Lebar and transfer to circle line and alight at Dakota MRT and walk for around 10min. The ex principal used to say we parent should help our child to be independent and secondary school time is a good time to start, by letting them take public transport. Children can then also learn to be aware of their surroundings and acquire self reliant skills
Hi, im exploring CCHM too for my gal. i also stay in Punggol. How long to reach the school from pg for your child?

If the child is consistent with Lit, Geo and history (at least a B and better), which is the better pick for Sec 3(or at least easier to score).

                    Anyone can give advice? Thanks.

Sounds like all 3 subjects are easy to score for your child. Then chose the one you child enjoy best. If it’s my child, i would prefer Lit. Student will learn so many hard skill subjects. What is lacking is the soft skill subject. Lit to me is about understand/expressing emotions through words. It helps the child communication skill in future careers and becoming a better rounded person

Has your child found out which texts will be used for E. Lit in upp sec? Even within the same schools, different texts may be used in different years. That for me is an indication.

Same as Bbbay, I chose E. Lit for my Os. Reasons are I dislike Bio and History. Some chose E. Lit because they dislike Geo and History.

My child did equally well in all three humanities too. I see more consistency in Geo tho. But eventually she chose History, because the topics will be taught in upp sec in Elect history interest her. She reject full history in her 2nd choice because the remaining 2 topics are not of interest to her.

To me, Geo is very science based. Students who are inclined towards science will prefer to take Geo. But to some students, Geo is now everywhere, in the news, internet and govt policy etc. Can read up easily in the internet. So some kids may find Geo boring, noting new.
