lack of Geog teachers in sec sch.
my cousin also studied Geog in nus, i think MOH take in geo grads too , something abt national health policy etc
Geo, sociology grads can work in policy making dept in some ministries , or NEA weather etc i suppose..
There's also a lot of geospatial technology-related areas of work these days.

However, I really think we must encourage students, teachers and parents to look at education more broadly. Especially in the humanities and social sciences, there is no reason why a job needs to be directly related to the area of study. University education should be viewed as first and foremost about learning how to learn, and experiencing both depth and breadth of learning, and less about being pigeon-holed into a particular area of work. Those 4 years are a time of developing the mind - and that is easier if the student is more interested in the subject matter.

Other than professions (doctor, dentist, pharmacist, accountant, engineer, etc) there are many jobs that don't require any particular field of study.

I personally agree that education is to help developing a person’s mind in his/her growing up stage…it is a process in a person’s life. Very specific degree/qualification will let us see more in advance of the person’s career pathway. It may change along the way too.

Maybe growing up I m not the smarter student, chasing grades or chasing good schools… I willtake courses as and when I feel I want it not that I need it.

I find lots of things to learn and also feel that on the job training should provide quite a lot of assistance to help a person to settle in quite many jobs.

We have migrated to AWS since yesterday. However, the site was under denial of service attacks which accounts for us limiting access to the server. I have no idea why they would want to target our site 🤷 but I guess this has been going on for about 3 months as we have had problems since then. Please bear with us for a bit while we fight this thing.

This explains why I got “service limited” & “owner of site had barred you” notices. I was flabbergasted but now u’stand these web attackers can wedge animosity btwn us. No sweat. Good that u’ve gotten back control now
