Not an even a province, it’s a county.

The administrative divisions in PRC government is 省(province)、市(city)、县(county) so 坡县 is a combination of Singapore (新加坡)and 县.

According to Zaobao interview, this is a relatively new term made popular by new PRC migrants, especially those 90后 and 00后,in short videos.

Well as it says, luxury. There are many other options available.

The one that I am wondering at is families flying 1st class. Maybe I sua ku, thought 1st class are usually for those millionaires but it seems like the average joes are also flying 1st class these days. They say is upgrade with miles but can accumulate so many miles to upgrade whole family? Need to learn how, I don't need 1st class. Biz class will be good enough. 😂

The luxury confinement is really expensive. I don't think it is catered for avg Singaporean. We have our own home and help around us.

The coe is indeed has become so much more ex. But think of it this way.. if last time many will buy new car will kind of skip the renewal, which is more ex? Now is going green...reuse and recycle

A suitable retort is that these Western Taiwanese are very rude!

Why I find the term 坡县 offensive? It denies Singapore’s sovereignty and implies that Singapore is part of China. Are our masters in Beijing?

Poor management on our govt part to let in the large influx of PRC migrants. They may be highly educated but lack cultural sensitivity and basic respect of our nation. All PRC new migrants should undergo compulsory National Education to learn about basic respect. Beside National Education (which obviously is not working), also need to pass a test (basic manners/cultural respect) before granted PR.
It is good that the issue was brought up for discussion. Else more and more ppl say it so naturally.
