And wait till you see bill for school kids. My jaw dropped the first time looking at it. 15yrs ago dd see doc everytime already $100/visit, waiting time at least 2hrs even with appointment not to mention carpark charges incurred..for same medications can be bought over the counter till I became so confident in self medicating. How not to like Polyclinic?
School kids cost the same as adults, surely? My kids' bills used to be about $30 at a pte GP clinic. That was about 6 yrs ago, so maybe it will be $35 now?

But we usually don't take much medication as we would have cheaper stock at home.

From star's list, we usually only take the ones in red:
      30 paracetamol at $1.20
10 yellow flu tablets at 40 cts (for night)
I was given a branded lozenges which a box of 16 tabletsat $8.
2 bottles of cough syrup at $1.40
Some tablets for phelgm and some more flu tablets meant for day.
I even asked for 2 tubes of Aqueous Cream at $3.50.

I realised there are cough syrups meant for dry cough and other types of cough.

I must say your doctor prescribes a lot of stuff! Usually we are just offered 1 type of cough mixture, paracetamol, and something for colds.

Slmkhoo, 2 bot cough syrup at $1.40 at yr GP's clinic? At Guardian/Watson is already few dollars a bot. Pvt clinic medications got subsidy? I don't remember when I went to a private GP clinic. Think that was when I was in my 20s. When pregnant & kids were young we went to pvt clinics in hospital. After I tried the Polyclinic I really like Polyclinic. Touch wood we just need normal med so far so anywhere also won't have much difference.

Primary school Kids have more subsidy but not sure abt secondary kids.

Private clinics are unlikely to receive govt subsidies as compared with polyclinics.

For Healthier SG to take off, would the medications prescribed by the private clinics receive govt subsidies?

That's why I would take the cough medicine from the clinic! And the cold meds (if non-drowsy). Most of the rest we already have at home usually, and can probably get cheaper.

Medicines at pte clinics don't have a subsidy, but they do buy generics in bulk, so will often be cheaper than buying from pharmacies. Under Healthier SG, I believe they can buy in bulk with polyclinics (or they are discussing doing so), which means that the prices will be closer to polyclinic prices. In any case, with polyclinic queues so long now, pte clinics mean less waiting in germ-laden surroundings. Maybe your polyclinic is one of the less crowded ones?

Cough, flu med more expensive it seems

Paracetamol is not expensive if can dont take the more branded ones, can buy online also. Usually I buy for dh coz he travels and he self medicate. We don’t use much in SG so don’t keep stock nowadays. When I had covid cannot find any so took children’s paracetamol.

If yr clinic is partnering SingHealth or NUS Health, the medication are as per PolyClinic charges.

Yup! Some of my medication costs only $2. This is a family doc that had been with us for >10 years.

I gave my family doc a long list of medication for this travel. The usual cough mixture, diahorea, vomitting, indigestion, etc all under $10. But for cream for varicose vein inflammation , gastric cost me a little more as it’s not the common list for travelers.

At the moment, I’m standing at the Buckingham Palace gate with a beautiful white horse & a handsome police on it. I wished for some heat pack for the cold this morning.
