More than a mth to few places must be very enjoyable :snuggles: no wonder you getting few med. A good plan.
I go by the fact that once u’re out of yr comfort zone (out of home-country) always hv some medication ready. If basic problems, at least hv sth at hand to resolve it immediately. If sth serious, at least on-hand medication help alleviate symptoms whilst looking for professional help in a foreign land.

Think in SG, we’ve good & easily accessible medical resources but in Europe, it’s not so str-fwd as u need to know where to get the right help & some of these places require prior appt! In 3rd world countries, u’ll want to hv that bag of medicine to tie u over whilst fly back home.

I don’t mean to think my medicine bag will be my end-all solution. Still hv be extra careful, observant with the level of critical needs & make early decisive move to forgo holiday to attend to yr health needs first.

In addition, always get travel insurance cover. It’s a must even with pre-existing conditions (NTUC Income covers pre-existing).

Touch wood so far not much diarrhoea, flu, cough etc. Guess the exposure to places not as clean as SG helps when young? Dd2 issues for this year aside..they can have fever up to 41, take paracetamol for a week and still self medicate. One have recurring fever on monthly basis under a paediatrician for so long then only discovered it was due to an inflammation on another part of body and went for 2 surgeries to correct it as that particular function has not matured yet. Now ok already.

Another dd once her fever kept coming back then went to a home physician and diagnosed due to inflammation of an organ..so took his medicine and I asked if I should continue with my own fever medication. He has given me a valuable advice.. the root cause found, do I think if she still needs the fever med? Haha..true la.

          ….
With kids, we mum’s need to exercise extra care. I’ve learnt nvr to leave fever that hits 38 deg & seek help for professional assessment & treatment. In my younger days, my church used to hv carolling activities to bring songs of hopes & gifts of love to children in-hospital during the Christmas season.

As we visit children fr bed-to-bed, the one thing that sinks into my mind are children who had very high fever & brains ‘burnt’ leaving them mentally handicapped. It was really sad esp some kids, we were told, parents nvr returned to bring them home. That was yorns ago. Thankfully, our society has progress and medical care has also gone world class. Nvr leave children’s health needs behind, they’re our precious future!

Estee, take are , lucky u discovered the heart issues early.... Thank God!
err ... actually how to decide to go to doc, as sometimes women/ men may just feel stuffy chest mayeb due yo stress, hot weather, hormones changes etc
Yes! Thank God for watching over me & hv doc frds to text in middle of night when my chest pain comes on.

I’ve this wrenching pain occasionally since 2 years back. When I had the 1st, I went to NUH, did a few tests but nothing came out of it. Then family doc (FD) sent me for specialist check & did ECG. Still was told healthy, no abnormalities. Only last week, I had this pain on my left again & requested FD to write a note for a cardiologist a church frd goes to, but his clinic was full & I didn’t want to wait. Went for Eco-cardio gram & CT Scan. I’ll be doing my mammogram early when I return, as my specialist wants to be very thoro to check if there are other issues esp for one in 60s.

I nvr imagine i will hv to take statin like hubby who hv family history of high cholesterol. DH hv high blood pressure whilst mine has always been on the low side, even during my last medical visit for the last vaccinations last mont, my blood pressure was still in the low side. Then just a week before, I hv this heart-wrenching pulling pain & hv to start on station 2 days before my trip.

Now, I’ve 2 extra medication for my trip - I’ve also started on evening primrose oil again. According to doc, my blood vessel plaque cld arise fr a variety of causes & as I don’t smoke, nor drink likelihood is due to menopause & I’ve been exposed to declining estrogen protection. I used to be very diligent with my evening primrose oil & SIL will get my supplies when she’s visiting fr Melbourne.

Anyway, I just manage as I go with this bag of medicine. My life goes on & I shld enjoy this time with my family.

Met DS’ gfrd for dinner yday b4 they go off for their Bible Study in a UK church, whilst DH & I did a slow stroll along Southbank enjoying the chilly winter air & mull wine. Today, will bring a youth fr my BS Group as he misses a special soya sauce for his chicken marinate. The air-pressure on plane had caused some leak despite my bubble wraps & into a big plastic box. Good thing entire glass bottle still intact. Tmr will be meeting 2 of DH’s frd for lunch after our tour at museums. Today is my choice to visit the KEW Gardens.

Good that u’re sensitized to travel prep. You’re the best person to care for yr family & yr kids will pick up fr you. Ya, we’ve to consider Japan s’times language barrier too. I like to think most wives/mothers are very detailed & “operationally ready” for contingencies.

With daddy, eat mostly steamed food. With mommy, eat street food.

Dd found her favourite cheese snacks and she checked her allowance…we calculated and teased her that she could eat her cheese snacks for 45 days.

Past few days didn’t talk to my mom. Today then tell me she is recovering fm covid, 2nd time already. But thank god everything is fine now…this morning she was able to make a short trip to mkt. She and her friends say only need panadol for covid as the cough medicine she tried during her first covid make her feel lousy. Some of her bittergourd plants bye bye already as mom felt need to sleep more this time round so didn’t take care of the plants. Told her it is not a bad time to get it also as she is expected to travel end Jan.

Just submitted my insurance claim for travel refunds from cancelling my Egypt trip. Filling in the form and getting the documentation together was as tough as booking the trip! We are supposed to get 50% of what was not refunded. They say they’ll pay in 3 working days - let’s see.

And then we can start thinking of where to go in April/May (the next travel window for us) - but not in the Middle East! We originally planned to travel in Feb/Mar, but other things have cropped up.
