MIL expressed interests in visiting Japan as her SIL & nephews are there. I’m still feeling the guilt everytime I was planning for this Europe trip. DS wants UK. So, thankfully DH agreed to take her to Ipoh first for a few days of Ipoh food, then he drives down to Cameron.

S’times, we’ve not much choices & need to weigh options. Thankfully, MIL u’stands fully DS’s objective in meeting frds & exploring studies. She’s so generous to mention that I need not worry abt his expenses as she’ll sponsor his interests to study anything he wishes.

Looking at her good health in her 80s, I certainly hope to travel & care for get, hv fun with her & build valuable memories with her. Really my role model, as she has been signing up for exercises at different centres & church. At her age, still so much energy & wish to live well.

Hope I’ll take the same attitude, and hv just started to join our church’s outreach for seniors with every alternate weekday exercises, just before my trip. We’ll start again after Christmas rest.

Earlier this year, I have my wish of bringing mom along for the long holiday. But there were few considerations, so ended up I didn’t. My mom haven’t been to many countries tho she has stayed with us at one place where she has experienced at least 3 seasons. I hope able to do that going forward with those smaller pockets of school holidays. I feel that mainly due to some family dynamics, sometimes I can choose A or B only.

Both dh & I have had tough times with mil and my mom too. As we age, we started to try overlooking those not so happy events. My mil, I feel never liked me. And my mom has episodes with my dh too. But dh always tell me must understand the elderly. And sometime last year dh revealed to me that he and my mom have been greeting each other good morning every day. And I, the less 细心的女儿no wor.

              Korea! Good choice.

Two friends gave up on Japan because the air ticket prices for Japan shot up a lot !!!

A Pilates classmate flew to Jeju Island via direct flight from SG. She said that previously, tourists could only take internal flights from Korea to Jeju.
I din know now got direct into jeju, save time for one leg of journey .
When is this yr A level ending ? Free soon for one 🙂 all the best best .

I know, blaming myself cant change anything at all. I always envy those who brought their mums out for train rides, holidays etc.

Another bright day and I feel that the sun rises very early nowadays.

My laundry is having its sun tan happily 🙂

No point looking back at what might have been. I'm sure there were good reasons for your actions, and your mum appreciated your time with her, whether overseas or locally.

I have hardly ever travelled with my parents since I was still a student and living at home. My parents travelled a lot while I was working or busy with kids, and we avoided travelling with them anyway as we are too different in our likes and dislikes, and standard of living. Occasionally we would meet overseas somewhere for them to spend time with our kids and for us to have a break as a couple. Now they are in the 80s, and they have pretty much stopped travelling.

                    Related to Healthier SG:

                    https://www.straitstimes.com/opinion/forum/forum-preventive-and-chronic-care-at-polyclinics-and-healthier-sg-clinics-will-cost-roughly-same

\"However, illnesses such as flu, which Mr Khong’s wife sought treatment for at a GP clinic, are episodic acute conditions, not meant to be covered under Healthier SG.\"

I gathered that polyclinics may be still a better option for common illnesses.

That can't be true - it's getting towards the winter solstice! It's just the contrast with some of the cloudy mornings recently. But it's nice to see the sun, though I will find it too hot later on. I have to roast veg for a roasted veg salad (potluck dinner tonight).

I feel very busy, and looking forward to Monday when it's back to normal pace. The 2-day course on Gen AI was interesting, but really tiring (Zoom for hours each day!). Last night was entertaining - opening event at the Sg Writer's Festival, and I will be going to another couple of events tomorrow. I can't make it for today's as I have other things on, which is a pity, as a couple of them sound quite interesting.

Thereafter can relax in front of my laptop 🙂

For me, Dec is coming and time to review this and that, including my finances and insurance plans.
