Now that back to normal. Nov/Dec is usually family time. Hiking today. Next week will be planning for around a 4 nights trip.

Am staying put bec I avoid sch hols as much as I can.

Thinking back the lockdown days, it is wonderful to be out of S'pore.

When is this yr A level ending ? Free soon for one 🙂 all the best best .
Thank you for asking. DD1 left with only Chemistry and we will call it a day!! She didn’t do well in J1 but luckily she woke up in time and worked hard in J2. So far so good. Next stage (hopefully) will be about choosing which Uni course to take.

S’times, we’ve not much choices & need to weigh options. Thankfully, MIL u’stands fully DS’s objective in meeting frds & exploring studies. She’s so generous to mention that I need not worry abt his expenses as she’ll sponsor his interests to study anything he wishes.

It is not cheap to send one kid for overseas education. Your MIL is generous towards your DS, must really adore him. When she said you need not worry about his expenses, it means your MiL also cares for you very much.

There are days when even at 7am, the sky is still dim unlike these few days when the sky is bright by 7am.
I'd guess there is variation in how much light we sense day-to-day based on the atmosphere?

However, based on the \"Equation of Time,\" it looks like at the Equator (we are one degree North?) the sunrise time throughout the year does not follow the summer/winter solstice like it does farther in the Northern Hemisphere. The total hours of daylight does match up to the solstices, but the sunrise time zigs and zags based on a few factors.

Same here! That's the luxury of having kids who are no longer school age!

Before I had kids, I also never took leave during school holidays because those with kids had priority for those periods. I remember always covering for the Christmas/NY periods.

I was telling DD that next year we will avoid travelling in December. Especially now that both DD and DS are out of school so we have that flexibility.

Travelling in December has always been a rush for me. There are many things to settle for the end of the year and before the start of the following year.

As for travelling with parents, I am glad we have many memories of that as we have been doing yearly family trips up until Covid struck. Dad has said that he will no longer be able to join us for long trips so what we will do is plan short trips, staycation or even cruise with them.

It is such a blessing to hear how one brings their aged parents along for holidays. 共享天伦之乐。

I always ask my kids this noob question during holidays, “will you bring me along for holidays when I’m old?” And happy to say, I always (and still) get, “yes, yes, yes” as a collective response from my girls.

During Covid, the best option apparently was cruising & we tried to go for more but only managed to catch 1 coz the operators kept cancelling & we kept our credits.

Come to think of it, thankful that FIL had one boarding which fulfilled his wish for travelling in a way. We had to buy pre-existing condition insurance & map out all the possible scenarios to be “operationally prepared” in event he has to be airlifted during an emergency. Thankfully, we nvr need to activate any emergencies, but it’s good to be prepared.
