Thanks slmkhoo. I hope she could get over it fast. Also hope she could learn that to achieve something that one desires, one must put in an appropriate amount of efforts. We know how much she put in. We were at juncture more than 1 time..to let go or hold on to their hands. Finally we decided to let go for both of them as that's what they want..and be prepared of whatever outcomes that may come. Generally there are 2 outcomes..cut off at 8..missed it, it won't matter much.. But I am feeling very relieved. She will be in a familiar environment. Though she told me there is no way she will not meet the minimum. I was still feeling a little anxious looking at the health situations. Think we can consider it as all goes well.
My Pilates’ classmate shared that her daughter planned to go RGS but her PSLE Tscore fell short of expectations so she went to another Sec sch to do her O levels.

Her daughter aimed to go RI(JC) but again, her O levels results fell short of expectations and she went on to Temasek JC.

Fast forward, the girl finally got into NUS Med with 4As having done well at Temasek JC.

Not uncommon to have ups and downs in life. It builds resilience in kids. When the kids themselves want to do well, they will persevere and won’t give up, and one day they will just realize their dreams.

        MKS
You serious? Start tuition immediately for sec 1?
        Is there a need?
Does your dd hv time, noting there are many subjects to study in sec sch?

Wait and see how she copes. Time is tight in sec school, and adding unnecessary tuition will just tire her out. If you already know that she is particularly weak in a subject, then you can get her a tutor. For other subjects, if she struggles, then find her a tutor. Tell her that it is her responsibility to do her work, and alert you if she needs help.

I will say no need but depends on you and your kid I guess.

DS did not need tuition at all. DD no tuition until sec 3 iirc, for math.

Stopped all tuition for both my girls once they moved on to sec 1.

I only started sending DD1 for Eng tuition after her form teacher called to complain. Likewise for DD2, she started her tuition only in sec 3 after her Chinese teacher called to complain. I waited until very jialak then sent. Come JC2, can’t scrimp on tuition fees anymore because it’s a major exam year.

Yeah you are right..stress and time mgt. Doctors & we were hoping it was just stress..i think our body can be really sensitive. It is not psychology sometimes but that organ(s) really gave out signs de. There were nothing much we can do. Just can scan that organ to eliminate some 'more common' cause of sudden byebye for eg. Scanned few organs ..then as usual the more we scan the more things we will discover ..so need follow ups.

I think she probably hv a cca in mind already. But just that feasible or not etc coz that will tired her abit and probably not that easy to get points to offset later. Let's see how. For her, I think I better keep track with her results else last min stressful again. Hope I could be persistent enough tho.
For myself, stress manifests itself in physical ailments first more than emotional or mental. I will get more migraines, gastric issues and eczema flare ups. Of course if this physical issues are prolonged, it will affect the mood eventually.

For your DD's case since already gone for some checks and the scan shows something iffy that needs further checks I will say just follow through with that just for peace of mind. Else if anything else crops up, you may have to revisit certain things that you have already done this round.

Just went with DS for his consult with a specialist this morning. This thing has been at the back of our heads since before his prelims and I was worried that it might affect his focus. Now that we have gotten it out of the way and it is an all clear with no further follow ups needed, we can fully enjoy our year end trip.

:hugs: thanks for the inspirational story..really happy for that girl girl to achieve her dreams at the end of the day..my this girl arh..somehow her voices of asking me to give her some motivations some time ago, keeps ringing in my head. She is getting worse in some ways. Do things half hearted kind. Even brushing her teeth..last time she always come to me asked me if her teeth are clean and white enough...now don't skip is good already.

Dear mommies…thank you for the feedbacks. Yup my heart also think let’s wait and see which subjects needs help. Otherwise once started will need to be brave enough to stop it.

There was an article on a student whose hands were physically challenged to even hold a pen/pencil ...

These students beat all the odds to go all the way for PSLE
Last year there was a very sad article about a boy with terminal cancer & he chose to sit for psle despite the pain and health difficulties. His parents collected his psle results on his behalf after he passed away:
