I second that. If for my child, I would too, knowing that there is still a risk.
If get balloted out but at COP, still can appeal supported by the fact that his 1st two choices showed his genuine preference for the school.

Hub's view was to place ACSI SEC as 1st choice to be shoo-in.....but I just thought it is a pity if we didn't try. Now, need to convince DS

May I know as COP for NAS Group3 is AL 6 -13, Group 2 is 21.
Is that mean for those students with AL 14 -20 will have higher change to join Group 2 ?
Means AL21 will have less chance?

No, 21 is the best score to be allowed to choose Group 2, so someone with AL21 who chooses Group 2 should get in to even the most competitive schools easily. Those with AL 14-20 can only choose Group 3.

After studying some secondary schools in Bukit Panjang for the past 1 day, due to my dotter's result is AL20, i can only select the below:

1. Hillgrove Secondary (19) (thirty mins away)
2. Zhenghua Secondary (20) (Nearest to home)
3. Unity Secondary (20) (thirty mins away)
4. Chua Chu Kang (21) (twenty mins away)
5. Greenridge Secondary (22) (Nearest to home)


Can all the experts kindly advise what should I do please? I asked my dotter, she also not sure which school to select?

If all else equal, going to a school near home has its benefits. With less travel time, there will be more time for her to do what she likes, and possibly be more involved in school.

May I know if Affliation help when getting into IP track? At first I thought IP is totally independent of affiliation? Are there O level track in RGS or NYGH?

No affiliation for IP tracks for most schools, but I think NYGH is a special case as it has an affiliated Pr school but no O level track. Not too sure how that affiliation works, but I think the affiliation COP is high. For schools with affiliated Pr schools, affiliations only applies to the O level track.

RGS and RI (and probably some other schools?) don't have an affiliated Pr school, and also don't have an O level track.

If score is AL6M and put NYGH as first choice, definitely very good chance.

But I wonder if kid puts it 2nd or 3rd choice with score AL6M, is it a waste of the choice?

Those students with AL 14-20 cannot join NAS. They have to go to another school with a worse G3 COP. They cannot join G2 posting group.

So AL21 is competing among the G2 group of applicants. U have a risk of being balloted out, but you should still try at first choice.

Your 2nd to 6th choices will be good fallback options. But i pray u get NAS lah

Are they having open house this Sat? If so, bring her take public tpt to travel to these schools to see and experience and ask qns there. Chat to the students & observe their interactions with each other. That will give u some clue of the culture there. She will definitely have some concrete preferences after checking all out.

NYG removed O level downgrade due to poor results this yr, unless parents or students opt in.
