Both also good, really depends on which school your son like more imo..example DHS is sap which my gal will not like but student with strong Chinese language will like.
Both DHS n RVH r sap sch wif strong chi culture. My 2 DS in RV. My youngest DD ( this yr psle batch) also picking RVH as her 1st choice.

          Dear Parents!
I am hoping for your advice. My daughter has a score of 6D and her dream school is RGS. However, we had advised her (after reading the posts here) that she would be subjected to balloting for a spot.

Her current choices for submission of schools:

          1) RGS
          2) NYG
          3) NJC
          4) SCGC IP
          5) Cedar IP
          6) RVH

2nd,3rd and 4th was based on proximity. As a parent, I felt that she should place NYG as her first choice and had explained to her the practicality of attending a school closest to home. She understood but decided to still give RGS a shot.

Hence, I'd like to seek some advice from Parents on the odds of getting into NYG with her score because from reading the discussions from 2019 onwards, it seemed that her chances of getting into RGS is extremely low with a 6. Most importantly, I felt that I should try to gather as much information as possible in guiding her in choosing a school.

          Thank you!!!!

p.s. she had attended open houses for school 1 to 4 and.
Good list. Listen to your DD in my opinion.

Is the psle aggrgate AL score of 5 the same as previous year for ESIS?
            Yes, correct.

            \"Cut-off for 2023:
The PSLE Qualifying Aggregate Score for 2023 ESIS Secondary 1 intake is 5. Singaporean students who meet the criteria and are admitted into an Independent School will be awarded ESIS. Like previous years, eligible students will receive an Eligibility Letter when they collect their PSLE results.\"

I got the above information from ACS(Independent)'s website. They have a chatbot for enquiries on S1 admission.

Those who scored 6+HCL that I know in our batch, put RGS as 1st choice and got balloted out to get 2nd choice of NY. Hence this choice order is not unusual. Many aspiring with AL6 will still try putting RGS as 1st choice but ended up in NY.
Though I also know one with AL4D who put NY as 1st choice due to travel distance and late reporting time at 815am.
If you are concened whether NY cop will reduced to 6P or 6M, well, your child's 6D alr has an better edge over many. Not many can get D for HCL.

Your child seems to know exactly what she wants so you can talk to her to find out her reasons to choose them. She may give you more insights since she has attended their open houses.

                    Dear parents,

Never knew this S1 process is just as stressful but hope everyone arrives at the best decision and choices.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know of any AL4-6 cases who made very conscious decision NOT to go for any of the top schools and more importantly, why?

I personally know of one AL6 who's a foreigner and straight up chose a government IP school because of school fees. Another AL6 is worried because of the potential demanding environment that requires one to always be at the top, they aren't financially well off too and instantly think it's never in their league.

Define 'top school'? I heard my girl says her classmates with AL4D applying Dunman high as 1st choice.. not sure is that the final decision. year end I will know the answer.. haha..

Some of the factors to consider
                        1. Fees
                        2. Location
                        3. Alumni network
                        4. Competition/ Work load
                        5. CCA choice
                        6. Great grandfather's aunt/uncle studied there
                        7. Religion
                        8. Taking third language or AEP or MEP - in-house Vs travel time
                        9. Prefer SAP or not
                        10. IP or O
                        11. I have bragging rights

There may be other points as well. To each the order of these points will vary.

For me, I will completely ignore point 4, 6, 7, 11. And work with the rest.

I don't quite agree with your \"never in their league\". If you are thinking along the lines, please don't.. you are doing a great disservice to your child
