To be a member, you need to be a Hokkien. To a parent volunteer, you need to be a member. Only the child of a member (father / mom) is eligible for Phase 2B assuming the requirements are met. Can arrangements be made with the school for the father / mother to cover the spouse’s PV duties? Yes, check with school.

It’s straightforward.

For the purpose of P1 registration, only the child of a member is eligible once all conditions are met.

For the purpose of membership registration, only people of Hokkien lineage are eligible. In Chinese tradition, SHHK follows the paternal lineage. For example, I’m Hainan and my wife’s Hokkien (like your family). Thus, my wife is eligible to be a member but my children and myself are not.

Many thanks for the discussions here. I noticed a particular provision under the Singapore Constitution which suggests that this practice may be unconstitutional. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
