And also I m afraid the kid will feel all the stress when unable to perform looking at how high the costs are.
No idea of the fees, but with travel, accommodation, medical insurance, rent and other costs, it will certainly be much higher.
Also consider if your child is ready to study overseas unaccompanied. A friend of mine sent her 16yo daughter to Australia to do the foundation year (don't know why she didn't choose to do it locally), and the girl didn't settle well and had quite a lot of (undisclosed) issues. The mother had to fly over 7 times in that first year, sometimes at short notice. The daughter settled OK after that first year and completed a university degree, but it was a bad year for the family. Luckily she was the youngest child; imagine if there was a younger child and the mother had to keep travelling. -

Can still go poly; may take longer only.
Or like slmkhoo said, 3 years in pre U. -

Understand what you mean. In this regard, have always told kids to separate the financial aspect in their decision making process - leave it to us adults to solve it. Their responsibility is to do their best if they want to go. All I ask is that they spend sensibly. So long as they behave sensibly there, things will fall nicely in place.

You can sign up for their information session and ask them all your burning qns:
For IB. School fee inclusive GST ($17440 for 1 sem) before those misc/deposit/camp fee. Now the concern is straight away to IB for the 2 years able to follow? Most importantly don't know what is the lowest O lvl grade they will accept also.

Also do try to bring your DD1 to visit the various JC and poly open houses (or she may want to go on her own, with/without friends). -

If go poly, can consider trying with the exchange and/or community service programs as a start, followed by overseas internship in final year, if applicable. Then both yourself and child will have an idea how suitable being overseas alone is for her.
If can go poly..we will likely take.
Exchange and/or community service trips are usually in a group, so may help ease homesickness in a way.
The lockdowns have disrupted this arrangement, but believe they are re-instating it. Your DD timing should be good.
Fit is important towards a successful outcome to studying abroad.
There are more options after O levels. Sometimes, a slower pace will give them time to develop and come into their own and thrive. This is my experience with my kids - PSLE grades is 吊着劲.
Your DDs will be ok, one step at a time. -

Can the receptionist disclose details like how many % of their students can make it to local Uni? 8 out of 10? 9 out of 10? If I’m not wrong, Poly is like around 3 in 10 and MI is also around 3 in 10.
And also I m afraid the kid will feel all the stress when unable to perform looking at how high the costs are.
Then again, I think it is perfectly fine to get a degree from a private institution as long as the degree is recognized here. A few of my cousins studied in private Uni and they are earning a respectable income. Only Civil Service is more fussy about where and how the degree is obtained, not the private sector.
Ya, I guess kids who are more sensitive may feel bad if they can’t perform well after their parents have forked out so much money to send them to Int Schools. Then again, all is not lost because it is easier to apply for an overseas Uni using IB results than local A results. -
How many will go civil service, Min?
Stat Board no need local uni now. The poly to priv uni i mentioned, in stat board.
3 in 10 stats apply to local uni. Shld be more for private uni -
I was trying to search for IB results (indicative hope see some IB points) to the courses in local U but couldn’t find it. Anyway to see them for some rough estimation?
And I think I saw something I understand as in my own words…‘Any’ poly cert in Merit & in Distinction can apply to ‘Any’ courses in a local U. I was like huh True?? Or is it difficult to get the Merit & Distinction or maybe just don’t get any exemption in the Uni courses… provided successfully accepted (most importantly)?
