Hi ladies, for discussion. This seems like a good local alternative to do IBDP. Fees are $37k per year (similar to what MKS quoted $17k per semester at HCIS?) but not full international school campus so no need CCA and whatnot. Ratio is a lot lower too, plus they have networks to help with overseas uni applications.

      Welcome your opinions on this.

Did they put student teacher ratio in figures? Sounds interesting too worth exploring..but HCIS is established for more years in SG with min 50% local students if I m correct. The yearly fee few k more ex.

They didnt put the ratio for IBDP, but they put for IGCSE (age 15-16):

“Our typical teacher-to-student ratio stands at 1: 6.

Our ratio will be kept below 1: 20”.

Did HCIS say what is their IBDP intake size? Is it easier to get in? Cos i think SJI intl and ACS intl all full house or very difficult to get in.

I just checked 1 school only. Oh no difficult to get in. Cant remember now but i think the max is 30.
Wah 1:6 is really good..but too low school can survive or not. And according from what noted on the website looks like need admission test right but according to reply just interview on spot something like that to just join the current batch.

Well, they do not have a large physical campus to upkeep like other international schools. They just paying to rent an office space it seems.

Read some say the kid study in Australia for degree…to estimate $100k/yr for everything. Is that avg or at high side budget? Say someone come to SG Intl school fee: $37k/yr(fee)+$36k/yr(room rental+meals+transport), no need $100k/yr… So foreigner studying in SG is cheaper right?

Am assuming Degree fee around same as Pre U .
              Dunno can or not.

If you considering an international school, personally I feel a campus will be better…at least got CCA, uniform more proper ba…provided admission is not an issue.

Can the receptionist disclose details like how many % of their students can make it to local Uni? 8 out of 10? 9 out of 10? If I’m not wrong, Poly is like around 3 in 10 and MI is also around 3 in 10.

Then again, I think it is perfectly fine to get a degree from a private institution as long as the degree is recognized here. A few of my cousins studied in private Uni and they are earning a respectable income. Only Civil Service is more fussy about where and how the degree is obtained, not the private sector.

Ya, I guess kids who are more sensitive may feel bad if they can’t perform well after their parents have forked out so much money to send them to Int Schools. Then again, all is not lost because it is easier to apply for an overseas Uni using IB results than local A results.
sounds low.... but my relatives i heard ,can get into unisim , suss with poly dip. And i think maybe depends on the courses applied.
SUSS, SIT, SUTD are considered local govt uni too

Maybe i should clarify what I mean. What I meant by degree obtained via Private institutions are distance learning degree courses with private educators like Kaplan.

Yes, of cos Civil Service do recruit overseas Uni grads. In PSD’s eyes, there is a difference between a graduate from Cambridge / Oxford vs some other less reputable overseas Universities, not to mention those with overseas degree obtain via private institutions here. PSD is still very fussy with where and how the degree is obtained. Therefore, I feel that we should not generalise that Civil Service employs overseas degree graduates.

For Stat boards, they have more flexibility and we see more liberal employment guidelines, including the employment of foreigners (PRC Chinese, South Asians….)
any idea how to find the list of overseas Uni recognise by PSD?
i cant seem to find from any of the local polytechnic websites too on further studies after diploma ; i assume those colleages/unis recommended by local polytechnics shd be more or less recognised ( by PSD)

I just came bck from europe. Vaping is every where among teens to old as it is easily available in malls.

Too common now. peer influence and peer pressure is a crucial factor too, to them it is normal. So bad for health..
hope WHO can issue some control or something as this is damaging to health
Saw cannabies vending machines too , in two places.

my girl said can smell in sch toilets too, some time :((
