Oh did that person turn off the “mains” at the box then? Cos it’s quite silly to turn off a fridge without looking inside it first!

I dont turn off my mains at the main control box because i have cctvs at home to keep watch on burglars…plus i have pre-programmed lighting that turns on at night (again to deter burglars).[/quote]
No, that person just switched off the power socket which was being shared by the fridge and something else.

Yes, I was surprised when you said \"mains\" because I have never heard of anyone switching off the mains when they go on vacation!

I was very worried of the freezer coz couldn't finish the meat. Thrown eggs. Didn't know there was a tray untouched. Potatoes must not keep also. Then today suddenly remember the aircon lol. No smart control coz not new house/reno. Before holiday, heart very worry but once out mind totally outside not home le. Y/end hol is long holiday.
Do you leave your keys with someone else? If so, ask that person to drop by and check for you? If it were a day, not so bad, but if you're away for a longer time, it's worth checking.

Another thing I have and do, which you could consider doing: I have a standard checklist of things to pack, and things to do before going on vacation. We run through the list in the run-up to leaving. The list is very long, to cover virtually all types of vacation, and I just edit as necessary for the specific vacation.

For future reference, you can actually freeze eggs, though I've never tried.

It's also possible to freeze potatoes - it's better if you cook them first!

😂 There's an amount of jadedness. After you have gone through it with one kid, you get tired and lazy and doesn't go through the same thing with your next child. Hopefully that child should automatically do everything correctly since she would have witnessed what his elder brother/sister went through :imanangel:
Bring it to MeTime...sounds so familiar lol! First kid, coz she was lost so was with her for few years..at P5 thought she can be on own already, let go. Come 2nd one, I was even more relaxed. Psle TYS also never buy updated one. Now keep telling her .. look at jie.

I m just more absent minded nowadays. Actually had a gathering a day before travelling. Was feeling so bad while throwing away food..why didn't think of packing it for them to bring home etc. Use number to go in..but never mind la..already checked app.

The jadedness is indeed v true. I spent so much time on my eldest's road to PSLE but when my younger ones turn came, I already went back to FT work haha. Also, i recalled when I only had my eldest, she went to all the enrichments possible eg baby gym, I can read, angmoh speech and learning centres, chinese, music, dance etc....when my younger ones came, no enrichments at all lol.....only 1 or 2 essential ones

Do you all keep the tuition materials so that others can use them? My side really waste of money. Filing is bad…and they don’t like to read loose papers…even own tuition materials never used for exam revision esp for one dd. Another reason I find tuition for them rwally not that useful.

I think every child has their own path to walk, even if they can benefit from older siblings and cousins’ experiences/materials. I’m the eldest in my family; DS is also the eldest among his cousins (not counting the one who is already 22 and far different syllabus at all points). I found that whatever materials/advice we passed to the younger ones out of willingness to share, it was never appreciated or even used. My younger brother chose to study his own way. I concluded every person wants to forge their own journey instead of being compared to others.

I discarded many books coz don’t want to overwhelm my nephew. Bought too many for dd1. From now I think will buy selectively only when they want to buy.
