I have ask why does the school increase 20more hrs than others as the goverment only reqiure 40hrs. They reply me that the school is vy popular and there is lot of parents willing to do PV. I wondering that does the parents do more hours mean that they have higher chance to go in?

Hi Zoan,
nice to meet you here.
you will enrol your son or daughter? in 2011?
good news: Northland will teach HCL from P1 T3...(though i have no idea when they started this, last year or two yrs ago)
in the past HCL only available from P5 onwards...
if you complete 60 hrs, should have no problem to register ur kid.
if you care to compare its academic results with others', you will find 60 hrs is very justified....
FYI, some school require min 80 hours PV... -

Yes i will enrol my son in 2011. Is ur child in Northland too? How old is ur child? R u the PV too? Yes they say some even do 70+ hrs @Northland but even you do 100hrs that doesn't mean u SURE get a place so why must we need to do extra hours. -
when i did PV, was told by a teacher that no problem if we could complete 60 hours...but that was about 2 years ago. things might change....
some parents like to continue PV even when their kids are already in the school....i met quite a number of parents whose PV might be over 200 hrs accumulatively....

I can understand how you feel about the uncertainty. but no school will guarantee a place only if you do PV.
last year all PV were successful in getting a place.
so dun worry too much lah...
you can check MOE's website or http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/yishun

i also feel surprised why it is so quiet here... :?
do other parents have their own forum to communicate with each other? :? -
When i go to do my PV duty i realise that the children bring their school bags to the canteen but that is around 2pm. Does they bring their bag all the time and every where they go? Why?
