Agree but would u recommend that to part-time helpers too? Or only to full time ones?
This Caregiver Training Grant (CTG) is for the employer to send his/her helper for training.

Dear all, can someone please share how to renew the passport of a helper from Myanmar? We went to the embassy, we were told to apply for appointment online. When trying to access their site online, there is either no appointment or the web-site crashes. Many thanks in advance.

I recommend Maidsearch, especially for Myanmar helpers, look for SiLing as she is very detailed, responsive and strict (which is good for employers).

Hello, just a simply question regarding damages caused by your housemaid. Do you cover it or transfer on maids?

I had a dispute last with my friend from UK regarding this. To sum up, we hire Filipino housemaid (actually it is a young man, but doesn’t matter here). So he is hired by the agency and delegated to us by them, stays with us already few weeks. In charge of all domestic chores apart of cooking. While handwashing my delicates last (nylons hosiery) he unintentionally tore apart one pair of it, 35 usd, sorry I understand it was a accident etc, didnt charge him, but 2 weeks later he broke one of my favorite cup of tea… still no harm for him, just a talk and warning. What is your strategy here? Kate

Hi all. I am new here and would like to seek advice. I have a helper who is with me for a year plus now. Ever since the new FDW mandatory rest day, she starts becoming lazier.

A little background. This is our second helper but our first time having a helper. The first helper was sent back after just a month as she wanted to videocall her mom every hour apparently to help her combat feeling homesick but that does not work for us so we sent her back to agency, whom eventually also sent her back indon because nobody wanted to hire her. I am someone who does not order her around. Ive never scolded her before only my husband does the scolding and telling her off. We discussed what was required of her when she came and if there is an issue i will sit her down with my partner and have a talk. Usually 2 months once when i notice things are not done properly.

So this new helper primary jobscope is helping with children. I have always cooked and helped with housechores but 6 months into working here she said she felt uncomfortable so i stopped helping completely just focus on children. She initially was okay but changed after having off days. She starts waking up after me at 9 -10am despite going to bed sharp at 9pm. She no longer prepares breakfast for my kids. She even make faces when i asked her to help with the children at the indoor playground while i settle groceries. We warned her of sending her back twice on different occasions and she is still okay. There are days she is ok there are days she is not but when asked she said all is okay. I tried to talk to her and still the same. We did not mistreat her, She has comfortable bed and turns on aircon everynight. She eats whatever we eat. We bought her stuff she wants including her personal stuff. What should i do? Reason why we have not sent her back coz we are waiting for the contract to end and also coz we spent close to 10k to get a helper. The first one was close to 7k. This current one we added 2k for her to come.

Would changing her off day to weekdays helped? Although it is none of my business I feel like the people she mixed around with may have made her turn like this. She is very young first time here too.

I had a dispute last with my friend from UK regarding this. To sum up, we hire Filipino housemaid (actually it is a young man, but doesn't matter here). So he is hired by the agency and delegated to us by them, stays with us already few weeks. In charge of all domestic chores apart of cooking. While handwashing my delicates last (nylons hosiery) he unintentionally tore apart one pair of it, 35 usd, sorry I understand it was a accident etc, didnt charge him, but 2 weeks later he broke one of my favorite cup of tea.. still no harm for him, just a talk and warning. As long as you think it is unintentional, you should try to overlook the issue. But you should occasionally pine for the tea cup and show that you missed and value it. It will make it a point that it is something you treasured and so is very important to you. He will understand it and be more careful next time.

You got a man as a housemaid? I've never known that is possible.

If u were to call MOM, they’ll adv u can shift off-days to any other day (weekdays/weekends).

Pm me if u need further discussions.

Wah $10k for hiring a helper. So expensive. Is that all sunk costs ie no refundable deposit element there?
