Me Time!

I think personality plays a large part in whether one prefers stability or excitement. In DISC personality profilings, it is the S/C who prefers stability while the D/I craves more new/exciting tasks.
But preferences can change with age/life stage as well. -
I have almost lost all my ‘agility’ in thinking/action. Now is even to get start also difficult. This morning I read those stories of ex chef/bakers starting own bz. I was telling dh last time have those drive…over time all gone. The other day I did think maybe this type of ppl need to commit financially…then find no way out but to move forward?

I hosted 2 Christmas parties, on Xmas eve and X’mas, respectively. On Boxing Day, I felt fatigued, body aching all over.
You can too!
I keep myself going coz I nvr want to see myself marooned at home. As I grow older, I’ll need to keep active. Even if it’s organizing a Christmas dinner, it makes u excited & want to do yr best to plan for a delightful menu, procure good ingredients, the process itself keeps u feeling busy for a good reason.
When I plan menu, it activates my brain to consider what my guests wld like & how best to get it accomplished hence, I believe I can stave dementia. Had been practicing my Wagashi designs & target to make 18 designs. So far succeeded in creating 12. Will get ano 6 done in btwn my other chores. 😉 If ever I still get dementia, I’ve done my part in steering fr it. Nowadays still forgetful.
It is easier to stay active when we are staying with the kids because I see my kids enjoying the X’mas gatherings very much (yes, they still receive presents from the guests). But when they reach a certain age, say in the 30s, when they have formed their own families and no longer staying with us, I am not sure if I will continue to host X’mas parties.
In the event I face an empty nest, I plan to enrol into the MSF fostering program or worst case, just employ a maid, so that I can cook for the maid to eat as I enjoy cooking and grocery shopping. I am not keen to join CC. I am very scared of getting Dementia -

Why not keen to join CC's activities? -

You are assuming that when your kids move out they won't join you for festive occasions? I think most extended families gather for festivals, and if you want to cook, I'm sure they will appreciate it! My widowed and childless sister-in-law often hosts the family gatherings, and everyone (3 generations) gather. We were just there on Christmas Day.

If you enjoy cooking and grocery shopping, I'm sure you can find ways to use those skills for others. No need to employ a maid just to cook for her! -
I like to plan and cook…but for own & extended family members. Cooking is not a very easy task for me coz I need to plan, buy and wash most of it end of day. This cny I will be busier haha.

In my husband's family, only 1 sister-in-law really likes to cook and is good at it. The rest of us avoid cooking as much as possible! I guess every family should have one such person. My mother doesn't like to cook either, so my brother's mother-in-law, who is another good cook, cooks the CNY eve dinner.

My sis don't like to cook. Not that I cook better, maybe I m willing to do that ba. One sis can cook/bake quite well coz she really follow recipes type. Her first bakes looked better than mine (the more seasoned one). It is like quite a norm ba..when there is someone cooking in the family..the rest will just at most help out.

My MIL still cook for her youngest & only last boy staying with her. But she did cook last year for 1st day of CNY, as we all enjoy her few signature dishes. But I’ll be the one always doing CNY’s eve meals just to gather entire family & cook dinner whenever my side of family return to SG.

For me, meals bond frds & family. my cakes are usually done to help kids & our elderly to celebrate their special days, so I’ve since done fondant/novelty cakes to delight. Now gone into other form & recent was Wagashi coz of the unique way to bring out colors & not difficult for me since I’ve done fondant cakes. Same imagination & creativity need. My only failed attempt was jelly art. I just cldn’t hack it. Maybe not yet! Since I’ve the tools, will try one of these days! 😉
My nieces & my side s’times father to bake & cook a special meal. I’ve tossed the idea of us doing a special weekly cook-in for our church’s outreach to the elderlies in 3 neigbourhood. We hv at least 4 young ppl going out of the sch system next year. -
Among my siblings, I am the one who host most gatherings.
Gotta admit that energy level is no longer like last time even though a lot of things are much more convenient these days. Previously, gotta run around to buy all the stuff for the menu planned and decor theme. Nowadays, can order a lot of the stuff online and get them delivered. Save a lot of time and energy.
