Me loh.
yes, some just dislike taking some 2nd or 3rd hand items.
The youngsters are into thrifting and supposed vintage stuff. So in Jpn we added visiting 2nd hand or thrift stores into our itinerary. At the end of the day I still cannot bring myself to get any of those 2nd hand stuff even though the prices were very attractive and the items are still in good condition.
Likewise, I will not pass items to people without first asking them if they have any need or want them. I hate it when people pass used items or unwanted items, even if they are brand new, to us when I did not ask for them. Basically they are passing their problem of having to clear those items out to me. In my eyes, they are not being generous or kind, they are being inconsiderate.
Most of the items that I need to clear out are sent to charity or passed to people who tell me that they want what I am letting go. I don't list on carousell or such cos I don't have the time nor patience to entertain questions, etc. Both DS and DD tried and also find that it's a hassle and irritating when people try to haggle or negotiate on pick up time and place. -

I nvr discard things that are still functional or if I rec new gifts that I hv no use for, I’ll pass on. Saving the earth & the environment is impt to me, as I want to be part of the solution for our future generation.
yes, dont simply throw though this is the easiest.
Try to give away or sell cheaply.
I received quite a lot of very useful kitchen items from neighbours who moved out.
We re-use, recycle and reduce (waste)
I try to release things as soon as I determine there is no use for it rather than put in storage to collect dust. If I hv no use for it anymore, I do hope someone else can benefit fr it. Yes. I don’t mind the hassle of arranging for it to be collected.
In our consumerism society, we tend to buy & find ourselves running out of space. I like our culture of spring cleaning. At least audit our possessions & improve our lifestyles to life simply. I don’t hope to leave a load of unknowns for my family to sort out as far as I can help it, when I go. -

I’ve bought a large pack of mushrooms, red dates, wolfberries, dried oysters, Lily bulbs, gingko nuts, lotus seeds, variety of lup-cheong & dried scallops. I’m not in a hurry to get the sweets as yet, but got a pkt of pistachios & seaweeds.
Come CNY, I will spend quite a bit buying dried mushrooms, dried scallops etc. I need space for them
Hope I can settle CNY goodies by month-end. This year, reunion dinner at my place & I’ll activate the younger generation to prepare majority of food. Hv to start passing on the baton. -

Last time, we always cooked Abalone Mushrooms and cheat my late FIL as real abalone. He was so old and couldn't spot it was only mushrooms. Actually we don't buy abalone during CNY because I and DH both don't like to eat....no need to waste this kind of money. -

Abalone mushrooms will be a gd option to consider for CNY dishes.
