Yes, I prefer to feel and count - like cold hard cash
MIL still prefers prints. I go for the download, as I find it convenient. I’ll let her use my app voucher & feel the convenience, but I suspect she’ll be still comfortable with hardcopies she can feel & count. -
DS told me his school canteen upped the prices this year…inflation + gst hitting the stall holders hard ba.

All are not spared from this rising living cost.

I thought only companies that exceed a million dollars in revenue (or something like that) needs to register for GST. Those canteen operators are simply defraying their material cost back to consumers.

Yes that’s what I meant. Their costs went up. I doubt they earn much profits from the kids to begin with.

go.gov.sg/cdcv. is the correct official link.
All Singaporean households can claim their S$500 Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers from Jan. 3, 2024 onwards.
This is the link go.gov.sg/cdcv.

A text was received- “Good news — you’re getting your GST benefits! Bad news : You just got scammed!
Scammers are now taking advantage of news about the release of GST vouchers to target vulnerable individuals.
Here’s how this scam works: Victims would receive official-looking messages on WhatsApp or Facebook requesting them to download and integrate *“the latest GST voucher mobile app” with their bank accounts.* The victims would then be directed to a webpage disguised like the app store asking you to download an app file labelled as a *GST voucher app* to “help” victims redeem their vouchers. The file is actually malware allowing the scammers to access and take control of the victim’s device remotely, making it easier for them to steal passwords and sensitive information.
Remember: You do not need to download any mobile app to receive your GST benefits. These are automatically given to those eligible!
Last night DH warned me that there was a scam going on and the link he cited was the above one.
Apparently, last evening when people clicked on the link, there was nothing, probably because CDC vouchers weren’t released yet as of yesterday, mistook it as a scam? -
It was reported in ST today that Caltex, Esso and Shell upped their petrol prices on 1st Jan !!
Not sure if it was just sheer coincidence (1% GST rise) or due to rising oil prices -

Reported in today's paper as \"false accusation\" that CDC and PA have lodged police report on.

水漲船高 , since the cost of ingredients, gas, water and transportation are all gone up, they have to increase their price to survive. Actually hawkers money is 辛苦钱,they have to wake up early and cook for students and therefore even they earn some money...就算了吧.

I think I am the poorest mum here, but I have never complained the increase of price. It doesn’t mean I am not affected, however, I will adjust my life to it. When the food prices are high in my company canteen, I brought my own lunch back to office. When taxi fares increase, I try to catch MRT. 山不转,路转,路不转,人转.
