The kids either hv YouTrip or TRUST Cards. TRUST card offers some cash back.

Personally, I’ve dumped my Revolut card last year coz it’s not competitive when use overseas in a Sunday. Apparently, they don’t hv live exch rates on Sunday, so they charge a higher rate. We decided not to be caught in a situation when we travel & forget it’s a Sunday & pay for food or shopping. Parts of Europe can get very expensive & not worth if rates Jack up our spending.
We hv YouTrip and TRUST cards. I like the latter and use it for MRT/bus.

The former has some limitations as it has only 8 foreign currencies.

I dont hv Revolut card.

No minimum spend or annual fee. Can't remember if there was a minimum balance for the bank account, but I think there's no requirement if it's a child's account.

You should definitely start a monthly allowance system for your daughters. They will not be able to learn budgeting if they don't practise. If you pay their allowance into their bank accounts, you can set an automatic transfer from your bank account to theirs, so you won't need to remember each month.
MKS
I agreed with slmkhoo.
You can start with your girls when they are in Sec 1 by giving a weekly allowance. If they finish all $$ on Mon, then starve for the rest of the week
This is the best time for them to learn about budgeting etc.

Revolut charges admin fee for usage on weekends. While we were in Europe in November, we bought swiss franc and Euro on our revolut and youtrip card to sort of hedge our currency exposure. Back then there was a cap of S$5K per card but they recently lifted the limit on youtrip. For those paid using local currency (euro/ sfr) in our wallet, there is no fee for weekends. Nowadays, our preference is to buy local currency in the card prior to the trip unfortunately there are some currencies that cannot be bought (eg. ringgit or taiwan dollar) 😄 Personally prefer this mode vs changing cash though i think some cash is still required just in case.

My dd just returned from 5 months exchange in Spain and she leveraged her youtrip and revolut for her expenses.
Wah, got admin fee for usage on weekends ??? Then this is not user friendly to me.

Note that if you use Trust card, you need to be FULLY employed. My sister's card got cancelled unceremoniously just a year after her retirement. So sad hor, NTUC think that retired people got no money to spend 😂

Oh, this is something which surprised me.
So i must continue to be fully employed to use Trust Card. There is simply no trust at all that I can pay my bills punctually

What does FULLY employed mean? And how Trust Bank know that your sister was retired? I declare myself as self-employed, and no-one asks me how many hours a week I work. I never declare myself as \"retired\" though.

Just found this on the Trust Bank FAQ:
I'm a retiree, can I still apply for Trust credit card?

Yes, you may qualify for a credit card with a S$500 credit limit (subject to meeting other standard bank requirements), if you meet the below criteria:
• Singapore citizens and permanent residents
Age 56 years and above
Assessed annual income less than S$15,000
No credit card or unsecured loan with Standard Chartered Bank
•
There could be some other reason the card was cancelled?

There is the TRUST Credit Card, which I’m holding & im retired.

The young in my family uses TRUST Debit Card. DS has just finished schooling & not enlisted as yet. He’s doing some Part-Time stuff. I don’t think that’ll hv any impact. He got his TRUST Debit Card before his PT.

I’m using SimplyGo. When I switched fr my previous card, all existing funds were transferred to my SimplyGo acct.

I can check my card expenses up to a month or tailor the period i want to view. My app shows all my travel history - destinations, time &

I can do top-up transfers at comfort of my home or anywhere.
