Free to change back. Costs $40 million of taxpayers’ money just to show the balance on the screen. Seriously roll eyes.

I interpret it as because of commuters’ push back, LTA had to fork out $40mil to maintain its old system to allow Ezlink / Nets Flashpay to be used. 😆

        Hmm... Reports are stating... \"... For now\", \"暂...\" ...
Don't know leh.... Doesn't sound permanent retention of old card system.

For me, i dont like the idea that deduction is directly done on my bank account. I prefer topping up separately and only need to monitor top up amount, no need to micro manage each transaction. Hope the card system can be retained.
If you use a credit card, it will not deduct from your bank account. It's good that there are different modes to suit various needs and preferences.

No system lasts forever and there's bound to be changes eventually. But they will hopefully be more careful about removing functions that significant numbers of people value.

I think this should be written up as a case study for all civil servants!

Figures are what they wish to emphasise only. Dont be misled without seeing the bigger picture. How much are we paying when SimpyGo first started and we are alr using EZ link. How much issurance are we paying against account based system being hacked causing our money in bank get stolen by hackers.

So typical of them to keep emphasising on 40mil after being "slapped".

I dont mind to lose $20 in my card if lost. But not all money in the bank if got hacked. When we sign up for account based system, we have to sign consent i presume. No one pays attention to.

But there is the mode to deduct directly from bank if one do not have a credit card. There are pple who do not have credit card or not wish to own one. Credit card are usually set up with giro payment for some. If hacked, credit card would still ask owner to pay.

It is easier to top up Ezlink card value now too. Ezlink has app to do top up from phones. My kids just use my phone to do top up now.

Strange, concession cards and student cards are card based system too, why system can be retained for these but not for adult card? Why need to pay extra for adult card but not concession and student cards???

If you go to Joo Goon MRT at 06:00a.m. or 05:00p.m., you will find 50% of the commuters are foreign workers, don’t think most of them have credit cards issued by local banks and I believe some even don’t have an account in local banks because I can see they use cash to top up their cards. How to cater for this group of commuters if the fares only can be paid via online banking?

mayb not double count, but may show error at gantry.
