There was an unexpected extra in quantum collected from the property tax (due to annual values of higher-end properties going up in quantum, in tandem with the market), so i wonder where that extra money will be put to use?[/quote]
      Social spending will go up?

So many numbers floating around! But it sounds like a lot of giveaways.

On 3 Jan 2024, we received $500 cdc vouchers.

Come end Jun 2024, we will receive $300 cdc vouchers.
Hence, we will get a total of $800 cdc vouchers per household 🙂

leeyl , property tax did increased in Yr 2023 ! 😞
G find ways to take back $
Was curious why the G announced there would be ppty tax reductions for some house owners. I thought because some rich men went to complain.

Then realize the reduction is more for lower/middle class. The very rich will continue to pay the higher property taxes.

Those most impacted should be ones staying in landed. So those whose landed properties are worth $4.5mil and above may start to dispose their houses..

The rich are complaining, but they won't complain too loudly because no-one will pity them! But according to what LW said yesterday, the govt was caught out because property values went up so much that the bands that they had drawn up became too low (i.e. affected more of the lower-value properties than they intended). Hence the raising of the bands for the following year.

Well, I’m happy that I get a new handout - the highest amount of Earn and Save Bonus under the Majulah package! 2022 was the year that my income fell (and hasn’t recovered). And I get the Medisave top-up as well.

I like the idea of having more SkillsFuture money, but I still have lots I have used. I just can’t find anything that I feel would be useful to me - they either require too much investment of time and effort for my age and stage of life, or are too basic.

I was about to talk about the SkillsFuture money.
I just checked and I hv some $$ in this a/c. Soon I will get 4k. How to utilise this $$?
Any courses are fully funded by this $$ as I read most if not all requires a co-pay portion?

Depends on the type of courses. If you are looking at those helping in your work, most require co-pay.

I took short course. Fully paid under SF. But it was before Covid.

I took acrylic painting intro course at NAFA. They have oil painting too. It was very therapeutic for me. Took me away from work stress. Every week, I looked forward to lesson. Completed a few paintings which was very satisfying.

But i couldn't commit to next level which is unfortunately not covered under SF.

I am keen in one day event, preferably conducted near my home 🙂
Maybe I shld go to the CC to find out more.
