Well, it doesn’t stop here. Tietary levels- Oxbridge, Ivy and MIT etc. Why NUS and not SIT ?
To take it further: if parents from impoverished country read this forum. They wil start complaining it’s not fair. “All you Singaporean parent get to choose how to get your kids into good schools; PSLE or DSA. Through sports, tuition, leaderships. All of us here in impovished countries can’t even get our kids into a school, even if we work hard, or we think we are smart. because we cannot afford it.”
There is home advantage for all students and within that, debate is fierce on how to increase access to the less resourced - meaning they accept there is unequal access to opportunities. For international students, message is clear that you don’t come if you have not settled your funding sources.
For SG, it is still more equitable with Govt funding and scholarships but increasingly, less for the bright who don’t make the mark as brightest - going towards Korea, Japan etc in access aspects.
Those who whine just have not accepted this country has moved beyond developing third world young infant country where all start at same base line. -
Ronaldo, HM Son all not born rich but look where there are now, hehe. Yes rich will always have their advantage but we should live life, let our children enjoy their youth, play the sports they love or excel at what they do best. Some of them realise their potential in school, some much later in life.
Please know the strength of your child and what they like best. Looking forward to exciting updates for DSA 2024, especially the open houses and other sharing. -

If I may, to add on:

The approach, some call it by the name “self- actualisation”.
Young students’ characters will change with times. All of us will change with times too. Nothing stays the same. It is true most students do not have rich parents to build them stadium. It is also true most students will have a very decent life in singpore after going thru local education system , down the path that best suit their aptitudes.
So to me it’s ok to pursue their current dreams, as long as it does not cost them “an arm or leg”. -

Hi parents, I tried searching in this forum for Visual Arts DSA / AEP, not much. I am interested to let my son try for VS DSA Aesthetics. Saw their IG, pretty interesting to have an inner view: https://www.instagram.com/vsaep?igsh=NjJleXF6ejVneHlu -

Hi, just wondering what are the chances of being successful for Leadership DSA (CHIJ St Nicks), if my child is holding the position of Lead NE ambassador? She’s involved in many school wide activities, such as being emcee for various school events, being 1 of the 2 in the whole school to be selected for interview with Minister during school visits, and also responsible with sharing current affairs to the school.
Academics wise, I don’t think she can score in the low single digit, she is somewhere between AL 9-12, and also not in the prefectorial board.
Thank you! 🙏🏻 -
I don't think anyone can advise on the odds & chances but I would suggest a few things:
1 - going to CHIJ SN open house (good chance to find the teachers and ask the questions you have)
2 - speaking with your child's teachers on her plans for DSA (most of them would be very supportive this one I am sure)
3 - start compiling her activities and include anything and everything that would demonstrate her skills in the said category
AL 9 to 12 are great scores! Good luck!MYE\" post_id=\"2130047\" time=\"1709345989\" user_id=\"122046:
