The original intention was good. After all we are in a multi-racial society, we ought to be reminded that we need to be sensitive to others. From Minister Chan’s point view, he said it is not to teach about history or to apportion blame.
But don’t know why the whole issue spun out of hand. A good policy with good intentions sometimes can bring about unintended consequences. Perhaps best not to touch on sensitive issues like race and religion as it can get very emotional.
