I just started using the rice cooker that supposed to lower the sugar/GI, with rice on a tray in the cooker. So far, quite bad results esp when I used the red rice. At first not fully cooked then I added some hot water and it became mushy. Now we all don't like rice liao. Maybe tomorrow I use steamer rack see how it is.
Hv been so busy revamping my garden & didnt hv much time to chat here, except peep abit.

Did you find the red raw rice helpful to yr dieting effort? When I started the family on raw rice, DH had an admirable flat tummy compared with his brothers.

Typically, I’ll soak the raw rice separately before putting them to cook in the rice cooker. Putting them to cook w/o soaking the raw rice causes entire pot of rice to be mushy. Try soaking.

I “ scared” the daily working hours increased in order to make way for 4 days work week.
Then I rather use my own vacation leave to work 4 days, I will be happier … haha 🤣
I just met an old frd this week, who complained her DH has been a workaholic. If SG can turn to a culture of 4-day workweek, some families might drive the workaholics out of SG for more frequent breaks away fr work & stress. I wld welcome it for abit more worklife balance.

DD’s work place has a 4day work week arrangement. Yes daily hours are longer to make up the total 44hrs/week. DD prefers it this way longer work days but shorter work week.

I think for those without young children this arrangement might appeal.

You still cannot catch my ball. I have no opinions on people drinking coffee because most of my colleagues like coffee, the important thing is the caffeine in coffee has caused your insomnia and you only slept for 3 hours yesterday. This is why I asked you to stop taking coffee so that you can have a good sleep 😴[/quote]
That was the only night I didn't sleep enough due to caffeine coz I drank coffee with refilling for the abt 4hrs duration chatting with my siblings.

This is more like it I feel. Coz if we cut to 4 days work hours without making it up, we are reducing the productivity if that is the correct word to use.

Ok let me google for the raw rice. Didn't know abt it. Also I may just try take out the basket and cook the rice as per usual.

Red rice not so much abt dieting to me..just that I thought it supposed to be healthier rice. We have blackberry purple rice, brown rice..i like to eat these rice but kids like white rice..so during cny period I bought 1 packet of white rice coz we need to eat rice almost everyday. Normal days they eat very little rice or try find others to eat. Yesterday afternoon I cooked the sweet sour pork coz dd been asking for few days already. I boiled 2 pieces of bihun and after that add olive oil, pepper and soy sauce, to replace rice coz I know they dont like the rice.

Ya , likely need be making up the hours , else output may b affected .
But normal hrs it’s abt 830 to 6pm ; add another near 2 hrs to make up hours after 6pm. By the time end work is abt 8pm . Reach home 9pm, may not have time to do meals , bonding with kids. If there is helper at home , prob not much diff .. some mums need to coach kids hw, no time again ?
For single or man , they work till abt 7 or 8pm daily so maybe no diff to these Grp.
Anyway , whatever it comes , we will embrace change n move forward. High chance , I will do less work too , time to do things we like n enjoy , slow down , spend more time with family , friends , then we walk longer in life

I look around in my org, the high post are held by people in late 40s to 60s , if all these people still hold on to their post till 63 n extend retirement … then the young adults may not have chance to move up … how? They stuck at low position ; middle age, senior citizens sit in high positions… soon our children will graduate n come out to work , they may meet this situation at work, management positions filled by seniors , competitive to fight for the few management posts, wait till people retire then rare chance come ?

Actually this is not the first time you complained could not sleep well due to drinking too much coffee. Sigh.....狗咬吕洞滨.....I am only concern : since you are driving, not enough sleeping may cause traffic accidents.

Beehoon is processed food, though easy on our stomach, I eat less. Raw rice are less processed than white rice & our stomach works harder to digest, hence healthier for ‘exercising’ our digestive organs.

Yea we can only embrace whatever changes come. I think all in all if someone can produce same output it doesnt matter where we work. Time & $ saved from travelling as least. ..

Hmm you are right there too..for organisations with low staff turnover, how to get young blood arh. But these organisations likely good employers also.
