I told my family that as long as I'm treated well every day, then no need for anything special once a year!
I find that celebration at my side becoming less important.. should I worry?

I think it depends on the individual. For me, gifts and celebrations don't mean much to me, and I've never really cared one way or the other. I'm happy with a verbal greeting on the day. I'm treated very well and appreciated by my family on an on-going basis, and that's what matters to me. I prefer the now-and-again doing something helpful or getting something just because I like it, not for any special occasion, than something splashy for a special occasion. But that's me. I know that some people's \"love language\" is gifts, and their kids' forgetting a birthday or mother's day is very disappointing to them.

You'll have to assess if the lack of major celebrations means that they care less and are forgetting you, or whether they appreciate you in other ways. If the former, I would worry. If the latter, I would say that's fine.

I guess coz I m not someone who puts much attention in celebrations…and they were brought up by me…so naturally lor… dds want to get me gifts but I told them no need. I m not someone who gets excited in receiving gifts.

Sometimes I do think will that make them having one lesser joy in life in the future and also will they be missing the joy of giving now? Their birthdays we celebrate together coz it happens during school holiday so everyone is there.

Well, if you think they really love giving, and you don't want to spoil their joy, then compromise? Ask them for gifts that you will actually use or consume so they aren't wasted, or limit gifts to just 1 occasion a year? And they can always give to other people who appreciate them.

Thanks! Happy Mother's Day to you too, and to all the mothers on KSP!

We're having dinner with my parents next week - my daughter is leaving for her first official work trip this afternoon!

By the way, someone told me that Dian Xiao Er is having a \"years of marriage\" promo till 27 June at selected outlets - the discount is the no. of years the couple has been married. Must book ahead, and only Mon-Thurs. See below for details.
                  https://mothership.sg/2024/05/married-discount-north-west-outlets/

We are busy this week, and away next week, so my husband and I are planning to get our 36% discount after that. If my parents want to come, then we can get 62% discount!
