        Estéema,
Our problem is no one want to cook at home. I never cook, my mother is on strike forever 😒. Siblings are the same. We gether during my mother's birthday.[/quote]
My family is similar - my mother stopped cooking about 2 decades ago, and my father won't eat my cooking (prejudiced - my cooking is not that bad!). We mostly dabao from nearby eateries and eat at their home, and occasionally eat at restaurants. And for special occasions, my brother will dabao and we eat at his home - and the food he buys is always very good.

The problem is my parents don't eat dabao and re-heat food except during Covid 19 period. They go to a cafe for breakfast and a restaurant in the same Club House for a late lunch everyday. They may have some bread in the evening as they cannot eat much at night.

Like to dabao/own cooked also ok ba so long as that’s what we ownself want…just that don’t say ok but actually not ok and become unhappy.

Will feel stress like me I think not that ok … so need to solve the issue. Problems usually have roots…I think I found some.

if cook, do simple. if choose dabao, buy food that need alot of efforts or more time to prep at home .afterall we are not work or over work in home. 😂

There are so many convenient alternatives even if no one wants to or can cook. There’re lots of pre-packed & very delicious food sold in supermkts or specialty restaurants nowadays. Similar to dabao but yet not dabao but can be as good as restaurant std.

If really want to be picky, then can also cater or engage a home chef. We’ve to learn to adapt, esp as we age.

Recently, I had trigger fingers & s’times can’t carry a pot or hold anything on my right hand. I realized I’ve to do dabao someday. For someone who prides to cook & still enjoys cooking diff cultural cuisines, will hv to learn to step down fr my usual expectations.

Recently, DS’s gfrd baked a chiffon cake which tastes nice but unfortunately turn moldy the next day. I didn’t msg to thank her in time till the next day, but complimented her excellent skill though it’s her first time baking. I’m glad I send a msg of appreciation & not even mention the moldiness coz I applaud her thotfulness & effort. Hopefully, it’ll encourage her to bake more & hone her baking skill.

She doesn’t cook & has nvr tried. My sense of self comfort is that they won’t be lacking as DS loves to bake & cook too. They’ll be able to take care in the food front. Life skills are impt if they hv to live on their own or when away fr home.

Talking abt turning mouldy. We had our bread turned mouldy 2 days b4 expiry date just last month. Dh says put bread into fridge coz could be due to the weather.

I could imagine the pandan chiffon cake …coz it can be quite ‘wet’ sometimes.

Agree. Our weather has been more aggravating if late.

Our family practice is to take bread we need w/o touching other pieces. Same as when we retrieve sauces fr bottles, we’ll ensure spoons we use to scoop must be very dry so as not to contaminate the remaining unused sauces.

Maybe try use a plastic foodgrade glove?

Very rare encounter. We also do that. I feel that could also during transportation…could be exposed under hot sun? Bread put inside fridge also nice to eat haha.
