Yes, agree that’s a good opportunity to thank the chers for their arduous effort in teaching our kids & guiding them. I’m glad was able to bake some cakes for the various subj teachers, but regret one HOD was too busy to meet up. After I stabilize in my health, hope this HOS willing to meet up for a chance to make some Wagashi for her.
Also, during the ptm is a good time to say thank you to the teacher face to face, too. Last time whenever dds brought home the progress report on those individual sheet with comment column from parent..I always write thank you note to teachers..nowdon't remember seeing any. All grown up liao. -
Dd used to like to prepare small gifts on Teacher’s day. Slowly the school doesn’t encourage the practice. Then we always see big bouquets of flowers. But I think among colleagues maybe not that nice, like popularity votes? Actually better now, lesser hassles. I have never prepare gifts for kids teachers. When I was in primary school, we gave small things like pocket tissue papers, pens etc.

Actually hor, for me it started off ..with me thinking that ptm is compulsory
I don't really like to speak to teachers without my child present (feels like speaking behind child's back) haha so I only go for PTC if the child asks me to be there as he/she needs to present. I probably have some teacher phobia developed from school days (effect of a Chinese school? hahahahaha)
That said, I must be grateful I didn't have any specific concerns or questions. If I have any questions, I just ask the kid and so far I get the answers. I would imagine if I would approach teachers if there are questions my kids can't answer, or there is a concern I need to raise. -

I attended when my kids were in Pr school - partly because they changed schools so many times that I felt it necessary to make sure they were managing ok. I've mostly got along OK with teachers though I may not agree 100%.
Wow do you all attend PTMs?
I avoid teachers like the plague lol! Since P4, I stopped attending PTMs. I do attend whole-level briefing sessions like subject combinations or streaming, but not the type that requires me to meet or speak to teachers.
I only attend when I am asked to - for example, some schools have transitioned to a student-led reflection style type of PTM where the student presents to parents and teachers. That one no choice, have to turn up otherwise child gotta explain why parents cant make it....
For my older girl, I went to every single one, all the way to A levels! I felt she needed all the support she could get, and my role was to remind the teachers of her difficulties.
My younger girl was doing fine in sec school, but I would attend the first one each year to meet the FT. In JC, I went for the last one in J2 to meet the FT who had been a great one - and the girls still try to meet her now and again even 6 years after A levels.
I loved going for the younger girl's PTMs as I would hear good things. But I felt that going for the older one's was a duty. -

We’ve previously done variety of small handmade gifts that are not really of commercial value. I think so long as not bought like fr expensive “Awfully chocolate”, hotel type of cake packaging. We did some small Rosemary & Lavendar pots with side pouch of these herbs at the side, as gifts of appreciation. Not high value but some live these ‘practical’.

Apologies. I’m still trying to verify the authenticity.

I feel “ relief” to hear some of u stop going to optional ptm fr sec sch , Coz my side also did not attend since sec 1 😝 I usually can get most info fr kids or mayb 2nd kid I am more hands off . If got issue ,I think teacher will call us , no need to wait for ptm to “ complain” , feedback
