      @slmkhoo Happy New Year to u slmkhoo! Glad to hear that you have so many happy and exciting events going on! Wishing u all the best for your book and your work.

      My new year’s eve was very quiet, just hubby and me watching movie at home & we slept early haha. Sooo introvert right. While the extrovert in the family was at his friend’s house for their countdown party.

      I am hoping for a new start in 2025. Will see how it goes; if it’s not in God’s will then i guess just back to the same old haha. Just giving thanks for good health, which I learnt in 2024 not to take for granted.

        @slmkhoo oh by the way, i remember u disliked the book “Lord of the Flies” for the degeneration of the boys into savages. Zac will be doing this lit text for O levels. I was likewise horrified when I read it (he was more critical of the author’s poor usage of dialogue as a tool). And he actually requested we watch Squid Game Season 1 over the Christmas break. I was again horrified at the senseless killings…but i think 15 is an ok age to be watching & discussing such mature themes. I recall there was some controversy over parents letting their preschool-primary school kids watch it when it first aired.

          @zac-s-mum I read Lord of the Flies when I was in sec school (about Sec 2/3?)- I was horrified! But it’s an OK age to read it, I think. Especially if they have someone to talk about it with them. It’s not too young to realise that man is not naturally inclined to good and unselfishness (original sin), and that civilisation (and religion) help people control and work towards overcoming those natural behaviours.

              @slmkhoo

              2025 is a milestone for my family too. This year
              my triplets, 2 of them have started their journey “from boys to men” (enlisted for their national services) and the girl has started to “feed herself” (I told her she has to learn to earn her living these few months) until she starts Uni. Certainty more “peace” at home now.

              I will start to plan for my semi retirement if everything goes as planned. For me, semi retirement means more financial and mental freedoms. Less cravings and aversions. More peace.

              May all be happy and peaceful.

                @bbbay wow triplets!

                my younger one also completed JC2 last year and yes I cannot help but look forward to being able to plan for retirement. Working life is rather stressful these days - endless changes to cope with.

                  @bbbay How can Semi - Retirement means more financial freedoms?? I only can have more financial freedom when I am on a full time job.

                    @slmkhoo Congratulations! Your dd2 has started her new stage of life and having a partner to take care of her. Any plan to have a “Snake” grandchild?

                      @zac-s-mum I studied “Lord of the Flies” when I was in O level and even today, I still compare what have happened in the current world with those characters and the plot in the story. If Zac is interested in current world political issues, he should be able to manage the main theme of the story.

                        It’s up to them. Unlikely as they are still quite young. On my part, I’m not particularly interested in becoming a grandma, definitely not so soon!
