Don't take Higher Chinese, but wants to get into RI(JC)

I have a daughter who wants to enter RI(JC), and the school’s COP is 3. However, she does not take HCL and thus would not have the 2 bonus points, apart from the 2 CCA Bonus points which she is eligible for.


So, even if she has a perfect L1R5 score: 6, after the 2 CCA Bonus points, her L1R5 would be 4. IF she takes higher chinese, her score would be 2, which would be enough to get into RI(JC).

Hence, I would like to know if there are any other ways (OTHER THAN DSA) to get into RI(JC) because she doesnt take HCL.

I don’t know of any other way.

At the end of the day, it is very very competitive to get into schools like RI. (I recall they just dropped the JC bit). So, while your daughter aims high, she should also have a plan B and plan C.

Does she take third language? Certain 3rd languages offsets another 2 points.

Does she have a strong CCA that RJC is looking for? My neighbour’s kid got into RJC with 4 points due to being in military band and a key player in there.
