I used up my $500 credits on a 2-day Generative AI course in June – super interesting! 😄 Now I’m hoping to find some shorter weekday courses (like 9am–12noon) that I can slot in more easily. Anyone here tried any good ones to recommend? Keen to hear what you all are taking too!

I did a similar course last year. It seems most of the multi-day courses are full-day ones. What areas are you interested in?

Thanks! Yes, it would be great if there’s a short course on understanding how children think, react, and behave. I’m keen in learning more about their mindset and behavior.”

@HNS2015 Did you find a suitable course? 🙂

I’m starting on my specialist dip next week — I had the orientation last week. It’ll be 3x per week (weeknights), but thankfully mostly online classes.

Haven’t done this in a while, so still bracing myself for the time commitment!

@thebottomsupblog Good for you! I was thinking of doing a 2-day baking course with a colleague, but we waited too long - the dates was want are not available now! The remaining dates don’t work for us.

I’m bracing myself to take a course from an overseas provider with live online sessions - 11pm to 1am once a week! Only 8 sessions, but my bedtime is usually 11pm, so it’s going to be hard. I haven’t committed to it yet, but will have to decide soon as it starts in Jan. And I can’t use SkillsFuture, of course, so the course fee will come out of my own pocket.

@slmkhoo I haven’t done classes with overseas providers before! Keep us updated 🙂 Wonder if SkillsFuture will extend their deadline…

I did suggest short overseas classes to my daughter (she’s on her gap year after IB) and to my SIL as well, who migrated to NZ.

Actually for my SIL, I suggested she apply for our SkillsFuture courses as she’s still holding on to her citizenship, just that the timings for her will likely be 11PM as well.

@thebottomsupblog If the overseas classes are not “live”, then they can be done whenever is convenient. It depends on the kind of courses she might like to do. For general “business” ones, she can try Linkedin Learning (free for NLB members), or various free resources online.

For those who don’t know what to do with your expiring SkillsFuture credits, a colleague of mine told me what he is doing, and I thought it’s a good idea to share:

Just buy a 1-yr subscription to Udemy with the credits (costs about $499 or something like that!). As long as the subscription year starts before 31 Dec, you can then use it for the full year. I think you can also do this with a Coursera subscription, also about the same price.

@slmkhoo Thanks for sharing! It doesn’t seem like it’s directly through Udemy or Coursera, but as long as there is access, it’s all good!

I also decided to see what annual subscription I could use my expiring SF credits on. I have signed up for this one:

                        EdX and Ngee Ann Poly
                        https://stms.polite.edu.sg/student/ihlcourse/detail/993e9e57-2c5b-4d5e-b25a-f8e42b9bf3b9

Access to courses on a variety of topics (including more “arts” ones, not all science, biz and IT) for a year for $216.91. I had $185 expiring, and I still had over $400 left of those non-expiring credits. Will try out a couple when I have time!
