Any parent applying for English DSA? My child is currently working with her tutor to set up her portfolio but welcome any advice on how we can improve her chances of getting in.
-
I think subject DSA too intense for my child. We are looking at DSA through CCA. How competitive is it? Any parent care to share the experience?

@randomblackore perhaps u may want to specify which cca for more targeted answers

@zac-s-mum he’s in badminton ; very competitive

@randomblackore Hi! My son was formerly in badminton, school team for his pri school. He played doubles, but because his team was top-tier, he was a reserve player.
He’s now in Sec 3. He decided he didn’t want to pursue this in sec school, that’s why we didn’t go for the DSA route.
Tbh I think the school coaches would be in the best position to advise/support. I’ve also sent my son to weekend training at Hwa Chong, where all the DSA types sparred against one another — it was quite intense! Feel free to PM me

@randomblackore
my son got into sec 1 this year through table tennis DSA. It was really intense. 2 times a week school training. 3-4 times a week private training. So he was literally training 5-6 days a week every month. -
@Monstermummy79 sounds very tiring. he’s great at badminton but lacks the drive to push himself even further. sometimes I wonder if it will be better if I just leave him to it. whether it is studies or cca.

@randomblackore if you want to DSA into top schools, then your son needs to be top 10 or top 20 in singapore for his year. Every parent in this catergory are pushing their kids really hard. So my opinion is that if you don’t push him, then he will not be as good as those that are being pushed.
