Stay-Home-Moms Rejoining Workforce

Maybe, you can consider finding something meaningful, and worthwhile doing it as it gives you the satisfaction, and joy in the work.Hi, I am new here.
I am considering re-entering the work force full time after my DD (only child) finishes her PSLE this year. Had been SAHM since she was in P2. Started working part time when DD is P5. Currently I am working part time - 2 full days, 3 half days.
Any mummies can share their experiences and advise?
TIA
At the same time, you are compensated for it.
Imagine what it is like to be so competent in your skill that you develop, and the friends that you build up, and the time management that you have in organizing your life in such a way that you can have the money and time you want, while doing something that is worthwhile.
Imagine what it is like to do it confidently?
Imagine what it is like to change your life, and that change can generates a stream of income, and still able to spend time with your family? -
I am currently also working from home to earn this extra pocket money. Great flexi timing.

I'm thinking to return back to workforce but feel reluctant due to my kid's study. Can u share what kind of home based you are doing now? Thank u -
Been thinking of going back to work again after staying home for almost 4 years. My DD is now in lower primary and DS in 4 hour kindy.
I enjoy staying home as i get to be very involved in the kids’ daily lives. I get to be in the PSG in both my kids’ schools and a lot of bonding time with them. But these few months i realize i need to do something for myself too. I have a sudden fear of living on single income. I feel a little sad when i look at my most recent CPF statement. A sudden fear that an
illness can easily wipe out all savings. I feel i have been stagnant. I want to learn a new skill that will enable me to work. Im prepared to get paid at entry level, fresh grad as long i learn a new skill. But then i realize its not that easy. So many things to consider. Kids after school care, whos going to pick send kids to school and enrichment centres. I cant really trust my helper to bring them to classes. Rearrangement of enrichment classes to weekends will not be feasible as hubby likes to keep weekend s free. Who will get the kids to do hw and piano practices. Who will Bring lunches to schools (special dietary requirement).
Also, for the jobs im looking for, there’s rarely part time job or Flex hr job. Many even require to do shift works. Sat, sun. Sigh. I just feel kinda stuck. -
You may have to place a priority on the timing of jobs, or take freelance (own-time, own-target) jobs for the time being, and make do with jobs that may not be your first choice. Unless you really dislike them, something is better than nothing, maybe? You seem to be very busy at home already, anyway. Maybe wait another couple of years when your younger one is in Pr school and you should be free the whole morning?

Thanks slmkhoo

Still sitting on the fence. To take the plunge or not ^O^.
Tough. Tough. Tough decision. Hahaha. -
There are freelance or part time work like trainers in Math, Science, Robotics, IT, Soft Skills etc.
In a way, you are current with the school programs and devt for your kids, and also having another part time income.
You can always choose programs and assignments that fit your schedule and time.
Of course, you will need to find a couple of them in order to have enough assignments or work that is suitable. -

I don't want to be awet blanket, but these seemingly appropriate freelance jobs for SAHM don't really work well, especially when kids are young and there is no/little/unreliable home help. I also considered tutor/trainer jobs, but they generally require you to work when kids are not in school, exactly the time that most SAHMs want to be at home! There are freelance or part time work like trainers in Math, Science, Robotics, IT, Soft Skills etc.

Hi,
Depending on your profession and experience, I do know of mothers who do the following work at home:
1. editing - they get editing jobs from publishers
2. grading jobs - from universities and polytechnics
3. developing elearning resources - from training companies to educational institutions -

I have none of the above skills. So I have to either continuing work or retire to stay at home.Hi,
