Happy Tuesday! Hope all families and parents have had a great start to the work week so far
We have just released an article discussing the topic of how parents can help their children become independent learners in Singapore.
βCan you sit beside me while I do my homework?β For many parents, this is a familiar request. You sit down to help with one question, but soon find yourself explaining every instruction, checking each answer and reminding your child to continue.
Supporting your child is natural. Yet as schoolwork becomes more demanding, it is useful to help them take greater ownership of their learning, with guidance that matches their age and needs.
A September 2026 Institute of Policy Studies study offers a timely starting point. According to CNAβs coverage, 79 per cent of parents surveyed agreed that children should be allowed to fail and learn from their mistakes, compared with 62.2 per cent in 2016. This reflects a change in parental attitudes; it does not establish which teaching methods are most effective.
The practical challenge is turning that willingness into everyday habits: giving children space to attempt, make mistakes and ask for help thoughtfully.

Happy Thursday! Hope all families and parents are looking forward to the end of work week
For parentsβ whose children have just completed PSLE, we have just released an article discussing the topic of how you could prepare your child for Secondary School.
After months of revision, the end of PSLE can bring relief for both children and parents. It also brings a new question: what should happen before secondary school begins?
Singaporeβs 2026 PSLE written examinations were scheduled from 24 to 30 September. With the papers completed, families have an opportunity to shift their attention from exam preparation to the next stage of school life.
Preparing for Secondary 1 involves more than working ahead in textbooks. It is also a chance to help your child manage responsibilities, explore interests and feel comfortable asking for support.

Happy Tuesday! Hope all families and parents have had a great start to the work week so far
We have just released an article discussing the topic of choosing the right Secondary School in Singapore and how parents should look beyond just the cut-off points.
When parents begin comparing secondary schools, cut-off points often become the first reference. They offer a useful starting point, but they cannot tell you everything about the school your child will experience each day.
MOEβs guidance notes that schoolsβ PSLE Score ranges can vary from year to year because they depend on each cohortβs performance and choice patterns. Past figures should therefore guide your research rather than be treated as a guarantee of admission.
A thoughtful shortlist considers both admission possibilities and the environment in which your child can learn, participate and grow.

Happy Thursday! Hope all families and parents are looking forward to the end of work week
Given the current haze situation recently, we have just released an article discussing the topic of studying during the haze and how parents can support their children with the exam preparation during this period.
When haze affects Singapore, parents have another concern to manage alongside homework, tuition and examinations: how can their child keep learning while staying well?
Changes to outdoor activities or lesson arrangements can interrupt a familiar routine. For students preparing for examinations, uncertainty may also make it harder to concentrate.
A manageable study plan can help families maintain some consistency. The aim is to keep learning purposeful while allowing room for rest, official guidance and changing circumstances.
