All About Montessori

pea:
Heyya pea,Hi buds! Thanks for your insightful post on Montessori teaching. I'm also agonising over which school to send my 2.5 year old boy to. This will be his first time in school. He's really suaku, hadn't even attended any playgroup or enrichment class before.
Considering Montessori vs Mainstream for him. He's very shy, introverted, quiet, but very itchy finger and on the move once he's warmed up. Not sure what style would be suitable for him.
Am looking at Montessori For Children (Mountbatten) which I heard conducts very \"pure\" Montessori classes. The mainstream school I am considering is Schoolhouse By the Bay. Both are near my place.
Any comments, buds? Much appreciated!
Also, does a pure montessori environment prepare one well enough for the local Primary One? The reason I ask is because some of my friends put their kids in Montessori when they were very young and then switch them to mainstream in K1. Any comments on this, anyone?
Sorry for overlooking your post. My deepest apologies.
Anyway, i have PM-ed you already. I dunno if it helps
but let me know if you need further info or assistance
from me. I'll try my best..
Btw, Chief's girl is in Schoolhouse by the bay so it must
be good. Also you may want to check this out.

If this centre was nearer to my area of residence i would probably allow
my children to be enrolled there as well, and of course subject to the
teacher's calibre as well. Methodology and branding aside, the teacher
should be a kind and inspiring one... so feedback from parents here is
one help but seeing with your own eyes is definitely better. Cos ultimately
it will be your decision and personal preference of what you want for
your child and in which kind of school environment you wud be
comfortable putting your child into. Remember, when visiting any
centre bring your child with you... -
Thanks buds!
Sorry, just read your pm. I will also pm you. Cheers :celebrate: -

how about MMI in Thomson?
Heyya kk88,
Are your children in MMI Thomson and you're recommending
it to pea? Or are you asking how are things at MMI Thomson?
I must've missed your introduction since you're a newbie..
Or maybe you HAVEN\"T reported to newbies upon registering
as a user. Hope it is not too late to welcome you to

Sorry for the misunderstanding, what i meant is what about the standard MMI thomson. -
Heyya kk88,
No worries, just to be sure only...
Sorry, i do not have personal experience
with MMI Thomson. But if i am not mistaken
it is a franchise. Though in general the MMI
curriculum will be similar, it wud still be the
teaching staff and a conducive environment
for learning, that plays the heavy part on
any centre's standard... Let's await comments
from parents who have actually sent their kiddies
there, yeah? Have you visited the centre?
Hope u have a good Sunday ahead! -
ginakoh:
Thank you so much ginakoh for your reply.Hi soomum,
I would say ave fees range between 550 (half day) to 850 (fullday). Both my children attends montessori.
(u can see my comment on babyplanet montessori that i highly recommend if not too far for u....- for your little one)
Cheers n good luck!
Are the ave fees range u mentioned is before gov subsidy? Or subsidies are not applicable to Montessori for children at Mountbatten/Newton centres?
thank u once again! -

hi
i am currently choosing a school/childcare centre for my 3 yo gal. but i can't decide on which type of teaching method i should sign her up.
can any of you share the key factors you considered when you decide on whether to let your kid attend montessori or non-montessori school?
