Hi tingting,
NYPS will need balloting for those staying within 1km. It’s been in the ‘red zone’ for the past 2 years. If you do not wish to have a heart thumping moment and the stress of being in a SAP school, I honestly give you my personal opinion, do not register your gal at NYPS. -

I have a neighbor who failed at the ballot at NYPS 2 years ago, in the end, her daughter landed in Marymount Convent :?. Anyway, not all are lost.... she waitlisted her daughter in various schools in Bukit Timah, and persisted in following-up on her waitlist status, now her girl has successfully transferred to RGPS...
Hi Ting ting if you look into the past records, if you failed at the ballot at Nanyang, it is ALMOST unquestionable that you can get a space in New Town or Bukit Timah Primary in Phrase 2C Supplementary but RGPS you can scrape it cause it will definitely be filled up in Phrase 2C. -

I feel it will be a waste not to register the child in NYPS if there is a chance. Firstly it will be easier for their chldren to get into NYPS if the parents are from the same school and secondly I can't think of any school better than NYPS.tingting,
Friend staying in Duchess has decided not to try for NYPS even though she stays within 1km. Her daughter is registered in her former school. She thought of NYPS earlier as she has a younger son. -
KSP,
My apologies…made an error.
Friend was from CHIJ TP, not NYPS. If it’s Nanyang, definitely she will register her kids there. -

Eh.. Is ur dd in wisdom class?tingting2424:
I'm not too sure if its good news anot as its not the only preschool in the area.. most of her frens have siblings or have parents who are alumni in other schs.. A percentage of her frens are pr or jap.. The jap frens are going to jap sch or international sch.. Out of her class, including her, only 3 is applying for NYPS..some unknown cos never see the parents..
Eh i think my dd went to the same preschool with your kid... -

I do agree with u that it's a waste cos we are staying very very near the sch.. Can even say right at the doorstep.. Her aunt is from NYPS but it doesn't help us at all.. Plus the fact from the goodwill of grandparents that we stay together for the sake of getting their grandchildren into the sch.. Gave up thots of putting them in either dh or my former schs..one in cck and the other in tiong bahru.. -
I m an old girl of NYPS.
After close contact with existing parents and students of NYPS, interactions with NYPS staff, I got the updated understanding of the school and its culture. Frankly, it is surprising and i dont like it at all.
Both my in-laws whom held senior positions in teaching shared my views.
Lastly, i was lucky to have met an old friend. She is a director /principal of an educational institution. I only got to know that she got her eldest girl in NYPS and the other 2 younger girls in RGPS. Hence, i asked for her opinion. She shared with me much insights and concluded that RGPS is definitely a better choice!
With affirmations from various sources, I have decided to FORGO NYPS 2A, and GO for RGPS 2C.
It might be more risky for me as I am 1 - 2 km from RGPS. But it’s worth the try! -
