May be originally they are not a family; that's why the 2 schools seem to run separately. when we attended the NYGH open house, I asked the girls whether they can swim in hwa chong swimming pool and they gave me a \"blank look\" and said no. dunno if there's any communication bet nygh and hci on their first 4 yrs; hopefully the girls can integrate well when they move over in yr 5.

The 2 schools are deemed sister-brother schools as eons ago, most of Nanyang's Board of Directors (which also oversees NYPS) were also sitting on Chinese High's Board of Directors. Over the years, with the change in directors, only some of the directors are sitting on both Board of Directors.

As the 2 schools have different administrations, they are run differently. However, as a tradition, there will be a joint Sports Day at Chinese High for the 2 schools. I'm not sure if it is the case now. Also, there will be collaboration within the CCAs. Like during my days, we needed boys for a drama and we would 'borrow' them from Chinese High.

I understand from a friend who is teaching in NYGH that they do conduct meetings with key personnel from HCI (Sec) and HCI (JC). For eg, HCI (JC) will provide feedback to the high school teachers the areas the children are strong or weak in and the teachers will adjust their curriculum accordingly. My other friend's husband who is teaching in another IP school said that such a communication was lacking in his and he has problems with the IP students. This is because his school was traditionally a JC and high school is still something new for them.

        Hi there,

My DD group was the last group yesterday @ 4.50pm. It ended nicely at 5.30pm.

Basically, they ask my DD to come at least 15min earlier, it seem like they would like to find out how will the girls mingle with one another. Exactly 4.50pm, they were asked to go in together in a group of 4. When they went in, they ask the girls whether did they introduce to each other.

NYGH is considerate, I think so.. as since my girl is in neighbourhood school, her groupmates were also. While the previous group are from RGPS and NYPS.

Basically, they will ask them to introduce themselve and talk about their achievement. (Bring profolio along).

My girl mentioned that the principle was there, Chinese HOD, one man and another lady.

The principle is nice and friendly.

        Hope it goes well.

For those with DDs that have attended the NYGH interviews; can u share with us on what questions they asked and who were the interviewers (the new principal ?). Thanks.

Angelee998, quite curious on how ur DD's interview session can be fun. Was the session more like chit-chat (ie. friendly interviewers and no stress) or games involved ?

According to NYGH website, the interview started on Mon; so if Tue was last day for GEPers' interviews; does it mean many GEPers were offered confirmed places without interviews or NYGH is super efficient ? :?

Many of my dd's classmates were offered confirmed places at NYGH without interviews. They are invited to tea reception on this coming Sat 17 July 2010.

[/quote]Hi ningy, yes I think the interviewers were quite warm and friendly and also joked with them, so made the interview 'fun'. They also grouped those whose weak subjects are the same, for dd's interview was all 5 (Yes, five!) were weak in maths, so on. From dd's class, about 11 selected without interview.. But nygh interview started on thursday!

So NYGH already conducted interview for mainstream students, that means those under GEP but still not call for interview, is already confirmed out. So depressing.
