        ... but I am also a stubborn Christian! ...

Err... if you are the Protestant Christian, you are from different denomination as in CHS, they are Catholics.
Although same GOD, but a little different in doctrine.

One of my friends just reminded me for SJIJ boys to go to SJI (secondary), they have to compete with at least 2 other affiliated primary schools ie St Anthony and DeLasalle. Apparently cut off point is 238, pretty tough competition i must say. Aiya.....cross the bridge when it comes! One step at a time!

              Gingy,

Actually its 4. St Stephen's as well. But I reckon most go to St Pat's

But.... since St Anthony's and De La Salle are co-ed (no thanks to the government, in my view), that means only half are eligible for SJI (Sec). 😄

Based on what I have heard (from teachers there as well as parents), the standard at SJIJ well ... pains me to say because I am an old boy .... leaves much to be desired.

Chinese, needless to say, sucks. It sucked when I was there (actually, it would be more accurate to say I sucked 😛 ) and it still sucks now. My nephew didn't do too well in 2d lang and couldn't get in to SJI (sec). Ended up at St Pat's.

I believe only 2 or 3 classes from last years' cohort made it to SJI (Sec). Not a lot compared to when I was there. 37 out of 43 of us in my class went on to SJI (Sec).

All said and done, my son will still end up there in 2012.

Somehow I am not surprised about the standard of Chinese at SJIJ. My hubby is also an old boy n ended up taking Malay as 2nd language instead. Sigh, will put my boy on waiting list at CHS n ATS then and pray hard. I strongly believe that Chinese is impt. I sucked too at the language and has learnt the importance of the language now

                    that I am working.

Chinese standard at SJIJ sucks, but their english is quite good. I was good in chinese, but sucks at english. I strongly think that english is more important, as most subjects are taught in english. even if you do maths, you still need to understand the questions.

Well, at least they are good at English. Guess will have to ensure my boy gets extra coaching in Chinese outside of school then. BTW, just put my boy at Jiang Education Centre at Fu Lushou building for Chinese language. Heard they are pretty good. Can turn a lousy student to an elite one! Any one can testify to that here?
