Sorry for the confusion. What I meant was that, if the address shown in her NRIC was 1.01 km from the school, she would be considered in the 1-2 km category. If her address was 0.99 km from the school, she would be in the within 1 km category.

Looking at her posts above, it is very apparent that she is looking for loopholes. Her mother's address is less than 1 km from the school, and in order to get into the school, she doesn't want to change the address in her NRIC. If she had gone by the proper route, she should change the address in her NRIC, and make a statutory declaration with MOE because she will be using the caregiver route. During P1 registration, she will then be considered as in the 1-2 km category.

i guess chic_savvy is really as clueless about the MOE requirements as some others rather than intending to exploit the possible loopholes, cos it make no sense to post one's personal photo on the avatar as well as blog address if one intend to deliberately do anything illegal? Right, chic_savvy?

that is not loop hole. she said that is her ic address. may be she did not change after getting married. whether she still stays there no one knows except her, but if she uses that address and got into the school, it may be discovered soon enough

as far as MOE registration is concerned, false address is not a loop hole. it is cheating and child will be transferred out from school and parents will be prosecuted. it has happened before

what i am trying to advocate here is that while many parents thought that using addresses that they are not staying in (rental addresses, parents' addresses, relative addresses etc) are 'loopholes', in actual fact, it amounts to cheating and you had stated the consequences. it just isn't worth it.

so people! using 'false address' for P1 registration is Illegal! :bewaremod: (can't find a better emoticon...:politebleah:)

Yes. I do agree that chic_savvy is just clueless about the nitty gritty details of registration. We were once like her, weren't we? We got through by the grace of others helping to inform us. So let's cut her and other new parents some slack.

For new parents, do note that the issue of abusing home addresses for the purpose of P1 registration is VERY sensitive in KSP.com, simply because it is not the right thing to do as you could be depriving someone else who really stay close to the school the chance to get into the school. MOE occasionally does checks and makes examples of people who cheat just to get the point across that this is a serious offence.

it is cheating in the Primary school registration.

Plus an offence for not updating the NRIC address within 28 days of shifting.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I know of married couples who have not changed their addrssses in their NRICs. Who knows whether they are genuinely unaware of this 28-day rule?
