Seriously, it means the system is quite ineffective because SHHK is not very helpful when it comes to offering information especially with the influx of calls just 1/2 days before PHASE 2B starts since PHASE 2A2 will only end 2 days before

But I guess if the system had worked in the past, it will just continue unless more members/parents feedback about this.

I cant stand the anxiety of knowing only just a day before the registration. Not sure if other parents face the same kind of situation as me.

The number of recommendation letters that SHHK can issue for each school is determined only after the number of vacancies for phase 2B is known, as the schools have to balance the needs of SHHK members and that of their PVs.

Precisely lo. Silly me thot SHHK will just provide the recommendation list regardless of vacancies. Then it is only for the school to decide after balancing their own requirements in view of availability. That is why I just don't understand the rationale for SHHK to decide on their recommendation list based on vacancies but thought they should have their own criteria (eg contributions by the members) :?

I believe SHHK has certain rules, eg number of years as members; contribution etc, to sort the applicants, then by cut off the list based on the numbers agreed with the school.

Just called SHHK, I'm not recommended for Phase 2B as too many applicants for TNS and my membership is less than 1 year.


In fact, I did joined earlier, but it was after their 1st meeting. Their 2nd meeting is usually around Aug. So parents who are thinking of going to Phase 2B, pls consider to join SHHK at least 2years in advance.

Now have to prepare for the next battle, Phase 2C balloting :stupid:

Actually i heard from frens that generally you have to join for at least 3 years before they will \"recommend\" you.

Plus, if the spaces get too hot, they will look at your \"participation\" records!

I heard that it is depends on the school you chose and how hot is the competition among members that year. They gave according to years of membership & contribution.

ks2 don’t be too disheartened, there’s always hope in 2C.


But to those who aspire to go SHHK route. I understand in prior years, those applying to Aitong must at least be member for 4 years and more!!! Seeing the TUR for Aitong, I think this year also bad.

My understanding is that SHHK will consider: the vacancies in the schools, the number of applicants they have, the number of years one has been member, the contribution to SHHK (eg voluntary work in their festivals/family day etc), recommendation by council member. All this will be given mystic points and a cutoff generated somewhere.

No offence, but it’ll be quite unfair to long time members who contributed a lot (Not me lah) to join in the fray with new members who didn’t lift a finger. At least there is a cutoff somewhere.
