HCI , may be. But RI, not all GEP students take HCL, so we are not comparing apple to apple. And our school is famous for being extremely strict in marking. I’ve seen markings in ACSP versus ours for the same paper, lets just say if the teachers-in-charge at these top schools are not aware of the differences in marking standards, our kids are at a comparative disadvantage.

not really. your kid is in P5. you would have attended the briefing for P5 kids/parents
they would have told you the average prelim t-score versus actual psle t-score of nyps kids
hence the DSA schools rely on their own selection test instead of kid's own school result -
verykiasu2010:
normally they do not consider PV applications from those who stay far away
That so?
NYPS website has a breakdown of enrolment by distance.
The numbers of 2B registrants who are outside 2km were 24 in 2007, 26 in 2008, and 23 in 2009. So aren't these PVs who live outside 2km (assuming those 2B via the grassroot route are within 2km)? -
hmmmmm…GEP if above 80% only need to go for interview; if below, sit for GAT , don’t think there’s any selection test involved.

Please note I said 'normally', and there are certain duties the PV dislike, hence due to lack of nearby PV, they have to take in those further away - but herein lies the risk - if the school estimation (number of PV to take in) is out of whack, you will have heart break balloting for PVverykiasu2010:

From the school's website: Phase 2B
Distance
1 km; 2 km; Outside 2 km; Subtotal

But it differs from MOE's website which states 51 applicants... :? -
